Summary: Presbyterian is seeking a dedicated team member to safely transport patients between clinical and Non-Clinical departments, nursing units, and other areas of the facility. This role supports patients requiring admission, surgical or procedural services, inter unit transfers, and discharge. The position also provides observation and companionship for appropriate hospitalized patients, assists with basic ADLs as directed, and helps maintain smooth nursing department operations by ensuring needed supplies and equipment are available for transport activities.

Responsibilities:
- Provides continuous safety and security support by staying aware, present, and promptly alerting nursing staff of concerns.
- Assists patients with bathroom use and mobility only when they can safely ambulate with minimal support.
- Supports patients in bed with needs and Activities of Daily Living (ADLs).
- Engages patients in activities per the plan of care, including conversation, reading, and companionship.
- Delivers competent physical and therapeutic care consistent with role expectations.
- Documents observations and care in the medical record as directed by the Charge Nurse.
- Maintains constant attendance with the patient and coordinates scheduled breaks with the RN.
- Adheres to all Safety Companion policies and procedures.
- Protects patient confidentiality at all times.
- Provides consistent, supportive presence to promote patient safety and comfort.
- Performs other functions as required.
Qualifications:
- High School/GED
- Less than 1 year experience in Patient Observation Attendant (formerly known as sitter) services or equivalent.
- BLS required
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Preferred: 1+ years experience in direct patient care.
- Certified Nursing Assistant, Nurse Tech, or other clinical support staff related to inpatient hospital setting preferred.
