Overview

Job Summary:

The Sr. Facilities Technician Electrical / HVAC will perform duties and tasks in the operations, maintenance and repair of building equipment, systems and infrastructure. Primary responsibility for trouble shooting, operation and maintenance of building Electrical/HVAC equipment including, lighting installation and repairs, bus duct (Starline) tap can installations, wiring of production equipment and systems, operation of fire alarm system, package HVAC units, refrigeration equipment, air compressors, air handlers and building environmental controls.

Additionally, this individual will assist in facility general repairs and ensure the reliable operation of manufacturing/lab utilities and building systems. The candidate selected will be working with the computerized maintenance management system (SAP) and will process work orders for preventive and reactive maintenance of all building systems and utilities. The candidate must also possess working knowledge of building management system (BMS). The Sr. Facilities Technician Electrical / HVAC will coordinate repair work with contractors as needed and provide additional input to capital projects that occur within the facility. This individual will participate as a member of the rotating on-call team (24/7/365) and will coordinate work activities with other members of facilities.

Responsibilities

Key Accountabilities

  • Strong background in diagnosing and repairing Electrical, HVAC and Mechanical equipment.
  • In accordance with the requirements of the Maintenance Management System (SAP), perform preventative and reactive maintenance work orders on all building equipment; maintain the operation of critical lab systems, building infrastructure, and compound storage freezers utilized in research operations.
  • Assist co-workers in daily maintenance functions such as plumbing, carpentry, HVAC and facilities infrastructure support requirements in the manufacturing and lab environments.
  • Keep current with new technologies, licensing, equipment and regulatory requirements by attending meetings and training seminars as required; maintain compliance in SOP and Safety Training.
  • Utilizes and maintains Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for work orders, repairs, PM's, and inventory control
  • Actively supports company and department commitment to safety excellence; Maintains safe work areas and equipment; Complies and promotes company safety policy, procedures, PPE, training, etc; Ensures safety culture and requirements are upheld by related contractors as well; Serves as primary member of building emergency response team; Ensures all work, including contract work, conforms to Instrumentation Laboratory's, local, state and federal rules and regulations.
  • Support facilities maintenance department during shutdown and tie-ins to building systems
  • Coordinates work and repairs with all departments (e.g. Site Maintenance, Engineering and Building Operations, etc.) as required.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications

Minimum Knowledge & Experience required for the position:

  • Education: Minimum High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Trade School graduate preffered.
  • Experience: Minimum 10 years of related experience working with Electrical/HVAC equipment in manufacturing/lab environments or related facilities preffered.

Skills & Capabilities:

  • Technical expertise in Electrical/HVAC and utility systems, knowledge of laboratory environments and compliance with environmental, health and safety regulations is required.
  • Strong background in troubleshooting various electrical, refrigeration and HVAC systems.
  • Basic Microsoft Word, Excel, and internet skills.
  • Massachusetts Electrical License required
  • Massachusetts Refrigeration License preferred
  • EPA Universal CFC Certification preferred

Travel Requirements:

  • 5% of time.

Work Environment (US only):

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate. Must be able to detect, identify and inspect scientific data. The employee will be required to stand and/or walk up to 8 hours per day and/or sit for up to 8 hours per day. Must be able to use hands to feel objects, including keyboard, telephone and pipettes or other lab equipment. May need to reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel or crouch. Will be required to talk and hear and have specific vision abilities, including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. May occasionally have to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The noise level in the work environment will vary but is usually moderate. This position is very active and requires varying levels of mobility.

The hourly range for this role is currently $48-$58 per hour. Individual employee compensation will ultimately depend on factors including education, relevant experience, skillset, knowledge, and particular business needs.

Our sales roles are eligible for participation in a commission plan and our management, and select professional roles, are eligible for a performance-based bonus.
