Job Description

The Senior Finance and Accounting Analyst will perform statistical, financial, and cost-accounting analyses for the College of Engineering. The position is responsible for the financial management of multiple units within the College, as well as other specific fiscal duties to support the College and help maintain fiscal solvency. The position also delivers actionable insights to support strategic decision-making for the College.

Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist with the fiscal budget, reports, and analyses for multiple units within the College of Engineering. Meet monthly with unit administrators and leadership to ensure they have a good working knowledge of their budget position and understand business policies; provide recommendations to ensure they manage their budget appropriately, and answer questions. Share information to ensure the financial stability and health of their units; develop and maintain department financial plans. Consult with the College Business and Finance Officer to review the questions or concerns that the units have shared.
  • Review and approve vouchers, requisitions and travel and expense requests for assigned areas, as needed.
  • Submit journal entries as needed to assist in balancing or correcting accounts.
  • Provide fiscal support for the College research centers by analyzing faculty non-grant accounts. Prepare reports and ensure compliance with rules and regulations.
  • Compile fiscal reports as needed, ensure that functions within the fiscal system are completed in a timely manner, including yearly reports that require fiscal information and analysis.
  • Work with the CoE Business and Finance Officer to draft and input the annual budget in Workday.
  • Assist peers with projects and work overflow that coincides with high workload volumes or absences.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with business support colleagues in the College and MU campus offices.
  • Support the business and finance office and College leadership with ad hoc projects, reports, and financial reviews, as needed.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Shift

Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 3 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

* Knowledge of various budget management and reporting systems
* Experience with PeopleSoft, Workday, and MS Power BI
* Expertise with MS Excel
* Excellent communication skills
* Commitment to timely support for colleagues
* Commitment to collaborating and cross-checking, accuracy, and excellence

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $52,915.20 - $70,000.00 per year
Grade: GGS- 010
