What We DoManages a team which oversees the development of training programs, curriculum, and training methodology/delivery for First American employees and/or external customers to meet organizational, learner needs, and facilitate training. Establishes and implements training strategies and standardizes training initiatives for training success. Develops training programs that align with business goals. Promotes efficiency and competitive advantage by developing the skills of staff and end users.

Manages the daily operations of a training team for an area or business unit. Develops and implements training programs. Analyzes business unit functions and tasks to ensure that the curriculum and training methodology/delivery are appropriate to meet organizational and learner needs along with facilitating training classes.

Essential Functions

* Manages a team which creates, designs, develops and facilitates training courses and programs for a defined area or business unit. Provides direct supervision of team.

* Partners with business leaders to identify current and future training and development so that corporate/business philosophies, initiatives and objectives are met.

* Continuously evaluates training effectiveness to ensure that it meets organizational and learner needs.

* Researches and implements effective and innovative best practices that will best prepare the workforce to meet business objectives.

* Stays abreast of all developments and changes to policies, procedures, regulations, business initiatives and technologies

* Participates in long-range departmental planning and provides input to operational decisions and to clarify or modify project plans, and/or schedule requirements.

* Ensures high productivity and quality performance from the Training & Development staff. Writes and conducts employee performance reviews and provides ongoing performance feedback through coaching. Makes hiring and compensation recommendations.

* Works on a diverse range of problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires evaluation of a variety of factors and an understanding of current business and trends.

* Exercises judgment within generally defined practices and policies in determining objectives and approaches to project completion.

* Erroneous decisions or failure to achieve goals results in additional costs and personnel, and serious delays in overall schedules.

* Interacts with Management and peers in other departments for purposes of gaining cooperation, exchanging technical information, and presenting project plans and reports.

* Facilitates training classes.

Supervision Received or Extended

  • Manages a team with direct supervisory responsibility including hiring, performance management, coaching, mentoring.
  • Provides input to and may develop operational plans and works with Senior Management to ensure that plans are integrated with broader strategies.
  • Receives assignments in the form of objectives, establishes goals, and assigns resources to meet schedules and goals.
  • Work is reviewed in terms of meeting product, project, or operational objectives, quality, schedules and budgets.

  • Track record in designing and executing successful training initiatives/programs
  • Strong team-building, organization and leadership skills
  • Knowledge of traditional and modern training methods (mentoring, coaching, on-the-job or in classroom training, e-learning, workshops, simulations, etc.)
  • Strong capacity to communicate the function's vision and the department's direction and set aligned goals. Provides resources and creates systems to measure results.
  • Actively recruits, retains and develops talent and holds employees accountable for results. Leads change, manages conflict and fosters collaboration.

    Typical Education

    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience

    Typical Range of Experience

    • 5-7 years of directly related experience
    • 3-5 years demonstrated experience in a supervisory or management role.
    • Demonstrated success establishing, leading and maintaining effective working relationships at the Department Management level.

      Pay Range: $88,900.00 - $118,500.00 Annually This hiring range is a reasonable estimate of the base pay range for this position at the time of posting. Pay is based on a number of factors which may include job-related knowledge, skills, experience, business requirements and geographic location.
