Description

Will be responsible for tax strategy and planning, tax compliance, and reporting, for a government contracting organization operating as an S Corporation, and to the S Coproration shareholders. This role ensures accurate pass-through tax reporting, compliance with federal, state, and local tax requirements, accuracy of tax filings, and alignment with government contracting regulations, including FAR, CAS, and DCAA considerations. The position serves as a key technical resource and partner to finance, contracts, and compliance teams.

    Leading tax planning related to contract structure, entity structure, state nexus, and growth strategies
  • Formulating tax savings strategies, researching and presenting savings and communicates risks of such strategies
  • Preparing and/or reviewing federal, state, and local tax filings, including S Corporation returns (Forms 1120-S, K-1s), composite filings, shareholder returns, sales & use tax, and related disclosures
  • Managing quarterly and annual tax provision processes in accordance with ASC 740, as applicable to an S-Corp structure
  • Calculating shareholder tax allocations, basis, distributions, and reasonable compensation considerations
  • Ensuring compliance with pass-through taxation rules and multi-state apportionment requirements
  • Supporting tax matters related to FAR, CAS, and DCAA, including allocability and treatment of tax-related costs within indirect rates
  • Serving as primary tax contact for IRS, state, and DCAA-related audits or inquiries
  • Researching tax law changes affecting S Corporations and government contractors; assessing impact on shareholders and operations.
  • Monitoring legislative changes for federal and SALT, including sales & use tax, and business licenses
  • Assisting with mergers, acquisitions, reorganizations, innovations, and ownership changes involving government contracts
  • Collaborating with payroll, HR, and finance teams on shareholder payroll compliance
  • Maintaining detailed tax documentation, workpapers, and compliance calendars
  • Driving process improvements and strengthen tax controls in a regulated GovCon environment

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field (Master's in Tax preferred)
  • CPA
  • 6-10+ years of corporate tax experience


Desired Skills

  • Strong knowledge of U.S. corporate income tax and ASC 740
  • Working knowledge of FAR, CAS, and DCAA audit requirements
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Significant exposure to government contracting
