Under the Direction of the OBGYN Nurse Manager and guided by the policies and procedures of Ambulatory Services, the Clinical Nurse II (CN II), provides care to uncomplicated OB patients and GYN patients at the OBGYN Mt Zion location (including satellite clinics), UCSF Department of Women's Health. The CN II will play a critical role in the patient experience including optimizing clinic flow, providing in and outreach to patients and working collaboratively with the team to create a patient centered environment.

In collaboration with the physician and nursing staff, the CN II has the clinical responsibility for maintaining a safe environment for patients and staff, and for daily operations. The CN II is a team player who works closely with others and who is flexible in dealing with the changing priorities. The nurse is a self-reliant individual who synthesizes his/her knowledge of practice operations in order to problem-solve, prioritize and facilitate complex transactions in the course of his/her daily activities. They are responsible for performing nursing telephone triage, responding to patients' questions via patient MyChart, reviewing laboratory results, administering medications, practicing advance assessment of patient medical and psycho-social needs, participating in patient education, and assisting medical providers in a variety of ways. All components of nursing care will be individualized to meet the patient's physiological and psychosocial developmental level and needs. This position requires the flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations and can include, but not limited to being cross-trained for other Women's Health Services.

The CN II has excellent oral and written communication skills; can work well with minimal supervision in a complex, fast pace and challenging environment. The nurse is sensitive to the needs of patients, staff, and providers at all times. This position makes a difference for patients in an outpatient care unit by providing excellent nursing care and customer service, facilitating and ensuring the accuracy of the information flow between medical, hospital staff and departments to maximize unit efficiency. The nurse consistently projects a professional and courteous demeanor and shall comply with the Medical Center House and Telephone Standards.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $93.47 - $121.11 (Hourly Rate).

Required Qualifications


  • Minimum 1-2 years of Gynecology nursing experience
  • Experience working OBGYN Triage
  • Active Registered Nurse licensure in the State of California
  • Active American Heart Association CPR Certification
  • Knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • This position requires flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations.

Preferred Qualifications


  • Experience working in Ambulatory fast paced OBGYN setting.

License/Certification


  • Active Registered Nurse licensure in the State of California
  • Active American Heart Association CPR Certification
