Instrumentation Test Engineer Job Description About the Role TheEdgefield Test Center is seeking for an experience Instrumentation Test Engineer to perform tasks associated with instrumentation and data acquisition during live fire test events at the facility. The Instrumentation Test Engineer is responsible for ensuring the accurate set-up, collection and post-processing of all data and video required to meet specified customer requirements. Responsibilities to Anticipate this Role
- Responsible for all aspects of data collection and instrumentation of a test asset during a live fire test event. Collect and analyze all test data and write reports as required.
- Install, maintain and troubleshoot instrumentation sensors (i.e., pressure sensors, accelerometers, etc,) and data acquisition systems on test assets.
- Responsible for the maintenance, set-up and operation of Anthropomorphic Test Dummies used to measure occupant injury during a blast event.
- Review test plans and develop instrumentation installation plans to support test programs. Provide input for proposals and future programs and provide support when necessary
- Install, maintain and operate all high speed and HD video cameras used during test events. Support and maintain the security camera system at the Edgefield Test Center
- Participate in test operations for small arms, medium caliber and large caliber ammunition
- Act as the Information Systems Security Manager (ISSM) for any required classified computer systems at the facility
- Support general range site preparation and set-up for test operations to include fabrication of test targets and other tasks required per the test program
- Ensure readiness of the range facility to include maintenance of buildings, rounds, roads, and equipment.
- Operate various hand, bench and machine tools, as well as various pieces of heavy equipment (tractors, skid steers, tele-handlers, bulldozers, excavators, etc
- Provide input into safety procedures developed for range activities and ensure compliance of the Process Safety Management program during execution of explosive and ballistic test events
Qualifications Sought
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering (Other technical degrees will be considered with related experience.)
- Minimum 5 to 7 years experience sought in a similar role
- Experience with instrumentation hardware and data acquisition systems is required.
- Previous experience with high-speed video or video collection is preferred
- Knowledge of networking is preferred
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills is required
- Ability to work independently, multi-task, meet or exceed deadlines, and build strong team relationships with members of the communications and strategy teams
- Microsoft Office experience including PowerPoint,Excel, etc
Additional Information / Desired Experience
- This position will require eligibility to obtain a US security clearance.(Non-US Citizens may not be eligible to obtain a security clearance)
- This position may require the candidate to work both indoors and outdoors during any time of year. The candidate must be able toclimb on/off, work in, and work around test assets and military vehicles is desired.
- The candidate will need to have strong written and oral communication skills.
- Able to work overtime when required
- Able to bring continuous improvement processes and methodologies to the position.
- Prior knowledge or experience with ammunition handling, firearms, blast or ballistic testing is preferred
