Summary
The Workforce Development Career Navigator supports new graduates of the EMK-MGB Health Careers Training Partnership in securing meaningful employment within Mass General Brigham (MGB). This role focuses on helping graduates of Edward M. Kennedy Academy for Health Careers (EMK), a Boston Public High School, further explore career options, strengthen employability skills, and connect to entry-level roles or paid training programs with retention coaching through the first 6 months of employment at MGB and continued career navigation support as requested.
The Workforce Development Career Navigator dedicated to EMK Graduates is a new role. This individual will be responsible for creating the structure and systems of the role, scaling their caseload of EMK graduates overtime, and hiring an additional career navigator in the future with timing dependent on caseload.
The ideal candidate is a builder at heart-someone who thrives in creating new pathways and systems from the ground up. They are passionate about youth and early career development, skilled in relationship-building, and experienced in coaching, mentoring, and connecting young professionals to career opportunities in high-demand industries such as healthcare. This individual will bring vision and structure to a new initiative, ensuring EMK graduates have the guidance, resources, and support needed to launch and grow successful careers at MGB.
This role is aligned with the Bloomberg Project and is currently funded through a tentative end date of June 30, 2029.
Key Responsibilities:
Career Coaching & Participant Support
- Provide one-on-one and group career coaching to young adults and recent graduates, including resume development, interview preparation, and job search strategies
- Work with 11th & 12th graders, graduates, and EMK school staff to align career interests to open roles at MGB
- Support participants in continuing to develop individualized career and education plans created in their high school MyCAP class that include short- and long-term goals and connect to future options at MGB
- Coach participants on workplace expectations, professional communication, and soft skills
- Serve as go-to support for questions and internal system navigation for EMK graduates who are new MGB employees
Program Delivery & Coordination
- Support the design and delivery of job readiness workshops, employer panels, and skill-building events for early-career candidates, including 11th & 12th graders and graduates already employed at MGB and looking to advance.
- Collaborate with EMK, program partners, training providers, and community organizations to deliver coordinated services.
- Maintain a consistent caseload of participants, ensuring regular communication and progress tracking with a focus on regular (weekly/biweekly) coaching touchpoints in the first 6 months following MGB employment and on-demand meetings for up to 2 years
Employer & Partner Engagement
- Work closely with MGB Talent Acquisition to understand entry-level hiring needs and align candidates to suitable roles.
- Refer qualified candidates to internal recruiters and follow up on placement outcomes.
Data Management & Reporting
- Maintain accurate and timely participant records in the workforce database or case management system (Apricot)
- Track participant progress, job placements, and retention outcomes
- Assist in preparing reports and success stories to share program impact with funders and leadership
Continuous Improvement & Innovation
- Work closely with Community Health and Health Careers Training Program teams to ensure alignment and reporting
- Stay current on labor market trends, youth employment initiatives, and training programs relevant to entry-level and emerging professionals.
- Contribute ideas for improving services, increasing engagement, and enhancing program effectiveness.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Education, Psychology, Business, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).

  • 2-4 years of experience in workforce development, career counseling, youth programming, education, or employment services.

  • Demonstrated success working with young adults, students, or early-career professionals from diverse backgrounds.

  • Knowledge of career pathways, labor market information, and youth employment trends-healthcare experience is strongly preferred.

  • Strong interpersonal, coaching, and motivational skills with the ability to build trust and rapport.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data management systems (Salesforce or similar).

  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and collaborate across teams.

  • Bilingual or multilingual abilities are a plus (Spanish preferred).

Working Conditions:

  • Hybrid with the expectation that the Career Navigator spend 1 day/week at EMK to connect with 11th & 12th graders and school staff and to meet in person with EMK graduates throughout Greater Boston

  • Occasional travel to partner sites, schools, or community events required

  • Some evening or weekend availability may be necessary for events or participant needs
