Technical Writer
The Opportunity: Support the development and maintenance of documentation aligned to Configuration Change Management (CCM) activities, including CI baselines, change workflows, governance board artifacts, and lifecycle documentation. Ensure configuration processes and decisions are captured accurately to enable traceability, audibility, and informed decision-making. Collaborate with configuration managers, engineers, and program leadership to document evolving system architectures, dependency relationships, and change impacts. Apply disciplined writing practices to translate complex technical workflows into structured content that supports execution, oversight, and mission readiness. Operate with extreme ownership and demonstrate accountability for documentation accuracy and delivery outcomes. Identify gaps proactively, resolve ambiguity, and ensure configuration documentation supports mission timelines and operational effectiveness. Anticipate risks, remove obstacles, and drive clarity before impacts to schedule, cost, or performance occur.
You Have:
- 8+ years of experience developing or maintaining technical documentation supporting configuration management, engineering, or complex technical programs
- Knowledge of CCM concepts, including CI tracking, baseline documentation, change requests, governance processes, or lifecycle documentation
- Ability to translate complex technical workflows, system relationships, and governance processes into structured, clear documentation with minimal direction
- Secret clearance
- Bachelor's degree and 8+ years of experience writing, editing, or managing CCM documentation in support of complex technical requirements, or 10+ years of experience writing, editing, or managing CCM documentation in support of complex technical requirements in lieu of a degree
Nice If You Have:
- Experience supporting CCM or configuration governance environments such as CCBs, ERBs, baseline reviews, and audit activities
- Experience with enterprise configuration or lifecycle tools such as Windchill, ServiceNow, or Atlassian environments
- Experience documenting system dependencies, interface relationships, or configuration baselines
- Experience with AI-assisted or automated documentation workflows supporting configuration processes
- Experience supporting DoD, ISR, or mission-critical operational programs

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $86,800.00 to $198,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen's total compensation package for employees.
