What Your Job Will Be Like

We are seeking a dedicated Electrical/Electronic Technologist. Are you someone who likes challenges and can handle a wide variety of roles and responsibilities in a collaborative work environment? Join our electronics team to support engineering efforts across all phases of projects spanning from conceptual-design studies to assembly, build, and test!

On any given day, you may be called on to:

  • Collaborate with design engineers, component and product engineers, systems integration and test teams, environmental test teams, and configuration management
  • Independently draft test and assembly procedures, set up and execute module testing
  • Operate and maintain electrical equipment, characterize electrical devices and components, maintain general laboratory operations, and field test equipment

This is an opportunity to become involved in a high visibility program area that manages the full range of remote sensing space system payloads and ground system hardware and software. Improved design, development, realization, reliability, producibility and quality are all major thrusts of our program.

Due to the nature of work, successful candidate must be able to work onsite.

Salary Range

$74,700 - $144,400

*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

Qualifications We Require

  • Associate's degree in electrical technology or engineering technology or other related STEM field plus 5 years of related experience
  • Proven experience in handling electronics in a lab at a printed wiring assembly (PWA) level
  • Experience reading schematics and electronic datasheets to troubleshoot, diagnose and provide detailed instructions to repair complex circuits
  • Expert-level capability with diagnostic tools, including oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, function generators, etc.
  • Skills in creating, updating, and documenting test procedures and failure reports
  • Motivated individual that has demonstrated ability to work independently and in collaborative environment
  • Ability to work in a dynamic atmosphere with changing priorities while meeting schedule
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q security clearance
Qualifications We Desire

  • Experience with configuration management of parts and hardware assemblies
  • Experience with thermal cycling equipment and testing
  • Possess a strong dedication to positive teaming dynamic, strong written and verbal skills, detail oriented with a keen focus on customer service
  • Capable of lifting up to 35lbs to move lab equipment
  • Current and active DOE "Q" security clearance
About Our Team

We provide the competencies necessary for harnessing and developing the world's best technologies, practices, and suppliers for realizing advanced remote sensing systems. The Remote Sensing Systems Group leads and implements the design, fabrication, integration, testing, and delivery of satellite payloads. We provide a broad competency base of needed skills for the development of advanced satellite payloads, ND support needs, and other WFO programs. We can use our unique capabilities and team with others to provide end-to-end program/mission needs. Embedded within the group are strengths in: analog/digital and embedded electronic design, software design, electronic fabrication and testing, optical science and design of optical sensor systems, power systems, test and integration utilizing space environment test capabilities, system tester development, system engineering and analytics.

Security Clearance

Sandia is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs

If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.

If you have a MedPED and you are selected for an on-site interview at Sandia National Laboratories, there may be additional steps necessary to ensure compliance with NNSA security requirements prior to the interview date.
