Job Summary:

  • NRG Consumer seeks a Go-To-Market (GTM) Retention Strategy Manager to drive customer retention, engagement and brand affinity by developing and executing customer-focused GTM strategies. This role translates value levers into meaningful customer benefits that strengthen loyalty and enhance customer lifetime value.
  • This position collaborates closely with strategy leaders and works cross-functionally with Marketing, Product Innovation, Customer Experience, Digital, Business Operations, Legal/Regulatory, Analytics, Finance and IT.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

Customer Strategy & Retention

  • Develop and drive retention GTM strategies informed by customer insights, loyalty drivers, performance and business/brand objectives, leveraging proactive and reactive channels.
  • Defines channel-specific segmentation and targeting for customer campaigns.
  • Create strategic frameworks that connect key value levers - such as sponsorship assets and community partnerships - to retaining customers.
  • Partner with Marketing teams to integrate assets and programs into customer-facing campaigns where relevant and tied to measurable retention outcomes.

Go-to-Market Planning & Execution

  • Lead cross-functional planning and support execution of retention initiatives across owned-channels like email, OAM, and app.
  • Build customer journeys and messaging strategies for retention programs.
  • Provide strategic briefs and define channel specific segmentation and targeting to guide Customer Marketing.
  • Partner closely with Customer Marketing, Digital, and Marketing Performance to bring GTM strategies to market with precision and measurable impact ensuring initiatives are executed.

Insights, Reporting & Optimization

  • Use customer data, behavioral insights, and performance analytics to evaluate initiative effectiveness.
  • Recommend scaling, optimization, or strategy pivots based on data-driven insights.
  • Prepare documents, presentations, and performance reporting for leadership to support decision-making and monthly business reviews.
Working Conditions:
  • Open office environment; hybrid schedule 4 days in the office.
  • Minimal domestic travel

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or related field.
  • At least 1-3 years of relevant professional experience in a Strategic Marketing or Business Strategy position
  • 5-7 years of work experience in energy markets

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in developing go-to-market strategies for consumer-facing products or services.
  • Strong understanding of customer lifecycle behavior and retention levers.
  • Experience improving business performance based on key metrics and goals.
  • Experience with subscription-based industry (electricity, cable, internet, etc.) a plus
  • Master's degree a plus.

  • Highly data-driven with the ability to analyze, articulate and solve complex problems and concepts to make effective business decisions.

  • Creative thinking with experience guiding projects from concept to execution.
  • Ability to balance business goals, manage trade-offs, and prioritize effectively.
  • Strong organizational, project management, and change management abilities.
