Overview BigBear.ai is seeking a Software Engineer 3 to focus on improving the productivity and experience of software developers by building and integrating advanced development tooling. This role emphasizesAI-assisted IDE capabilities,automated code quality workflows, and experimentation withagentic and autonomous systems to support software development tasks. What you will do Tooling Development:Design and implementAI-assisted IDEand developer tooling capabilities Agent Integration:Integrate agent-based systems for repetitive developer tasks such ascode reviews,unit test generation, andcode quality analysis Experimentation:Experiment withautonomous or semi-autonomous agentsto assist with development workflows Platform Integration:Integrate new tools into existing development platforms and pipelines Collaboration:Collaborate with customers and teammates to gather feedback and iterate on solutions Effectiveness Measurement:Measure and document the effectiveness of tooling improvements What you need to have Clearance:Must possess and maintain an activeTS/SCI w/Polygraph Education & Experience: 12 years of experiencewith aB.S.in a technical discipline or4 additional years of experiencein place of a degree Technical Expertise: Strong software engineering skills in one or moremodern programming languages Experience withIDEs, developer tools, or build and test systems Proficiency in Python and Java Hands-on experience withAI- or LLM-powered developer tools, including chat-based interfaces or automated coding agents Ability toprototype, evaluate, and refine experimental tooling Solid understanding ofsoftware development workflowsand best practices What we'd like you to have Code Quality Tools:Experience withautomated code revieworstatic analysis tools Agentic AI Frameworks:Knowledge ofagentic AI frameworksor orchestration systems Developer Enablement:Experience working ondeveloper platformsor internal engineering enablement teams DevOps Practices:Familiarity withCI/CD pipelinesandDevOps practices VS Code Extensions:Experience developingVS Code extensions(TypeScript, Electron) Pay transparency Please note the targeted compensation range is provided as an estimate, and any actual compensation offer may vary depending on the needs of the company, or an applicant's skillset, competencies, experience, education, certifications, location, or other factors.
