POSITION SUMMARY

The Operations Training Leader oversees the creation, implementation, and continuous improvement of training programs that ensure workforce capability, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence across chemical manufacturing plants. This role partners closely with plant leadership, EHS, Quality, and HR to build a strong learning culture that advances safety, technical proficiency, leadership development, and career pathways within the organization. This position requires a balance of technical expertise and leadership acumen. The Operational Training Leader plays a critical role in ensuring operational reliability, regulatory compliance, and sustainable growth. Located at our Florence, Kentucky site, the Operational Training Leader reports to the Plant Manager.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

An Operational Training Leader is responsible for but not limited to the following:

Training Strategy & Program Leadership

  • In partnership with Solenis' corporate Learning and Development department, develop and execute a comprehensive L&D strategy aligned to plant operations, safety performance, and business objectives.
  • Lead the design, deployment, and evolution of training programs across manufacturing operations, including onboarding, technical skills, operator qualification, leadership development, and continuous improvement training.
  • Establish a structured learning framework reflecting adultlearning principles, blended learning methods, and competencybased progression.

Compliance & Regulatory Training

  • Ensure all employees meet regulatory, environmental, health, and safety training requirements (OSHA, EPA, DOT, PSM, RCRA, etc.).
  • Partner with EHS to maintain accurate training records, audit readiness, and documentation required for inspections.
  • Periodically review training content to ensure compliance with chemical industry standards and internal SOPs.

Technical Skills & Operator Development

  • Build competency models and skillsmatrix frameworks for critical manufacturing roles (operators, maintenance techs, lab technicians, supervisors).
  • Oversee job task analysis, standard work documentation, and handson technical training programs.
  • Support implementation of digital tools for skills tracking, certifications, and training delivery.

Leadership & Workforce Development

  • Develop plant supervisors, team leads, and emerging leaders through targeted curriculum in coaching, performance management, communication, and situational leadership.
  • Facilitate workshops and learning sessions that strengthen teamwork, problem-solving, and continuous improvement capabilities.
  • Establish and lead a Learning Council and aligns standards and best practices.

Learning Operations & Process Governance

  • Maintain the Learning Management System (LMS): data integrity, learning paths, reporting, and system optimization.
  • Collaborates with Operations & Manufacturing resources to transition appropriate Operations & Manufacturing courses into Solenis' LMS system
  • Monitor training effectiveness using KPIs, assessments, certifications, and operational performance metrics.
  • Collaborate with SMEs to ensure training materials are current, accurate, and aligned with process changes.

Culture of Safety, Quality, and Continuous Improvement

  • Champion a learning culture focused on safe work practices, error reduction, and operational discipline.
  • Support Lean/Six Sigma initiatives with training, coaching, and facilitation.
  • Lead or contribute to RCA, incident prevention, and corrective action learning programs.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in in Learning & Development, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Engineering, Chemistry, HR, or related field
  • 7+ years of experience in Learning & Development, Operations Training, Organizational Development, or HR within chemical manufacturing, industrial process, or highly regulated environments.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and documentation tools (e.g., Adobe Acrobat, Visio).
  • Experience with LMS platforms and document management systems
  • Accommodate shifting priorities as well as excellent problem-solving skills focusing on continuous improvement
    • Preferred
  • Experience with OSHA/EPA/PSM compliance training strongly.
  • Background in Lean/Six Sigma, adult learning, or instructional design (ADDIE)

The expected compensation range for this position is between $93,530.00 and $155,890.00 plus discretionary bonuses. The exact compensation may vary based on your skills, experience and other factors permitted by law.
