The purpose of this position is to ensure good playability and safety of the City's athletic ?elds, golf course and turf. This is accomplished by managing the turf, operating mowing and other turf equipment, ensuring appropriate turf height, distributing fertilizer as needed, scheduling mowing activities and performing maintenance on turf equipment. Other duties may include documenting and maintaining ?eld & golf course activity reports and interfacing with other City employees and citizens. This position may provide direction to other employees.

Essential Functions

The following duties ARE NOT intended to serve as a comprehensive list of all duties performed by all employees in this classification, only a representative summary of the primary duties and responsibilities. Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional, position-specific duties.
  • Maintains the City's athletic ?elds and golf course by determining lawn and chemical needs, operating reel-type mower, and rotary ensuring proper lawn height, distributing fertilizer when needed and scheduling mowing around irrigation and chemical use.
  • Maintains all lawn, mowing and turf equipment by performing preventative maintenance, replacing faulty parts when necessary, determining where problems exist with equipment, reading through equipment manuals and completing other repairs and maintenance as necessary.
  • Performs turf management functions by distributing Rye to the City's seed ?elds and golf course, spraying weeds when needed, and vacuuming grass clippings.
  • Completes administrative duties as necessary by documenting ?eld and golf course activity and chemical use and maintaining appropriate forms for other necessary documentation purposes as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and one (1) year of relevant experience.
Certi?cation and Other Requirements
  • Texas Class B Commercial Driver's license or ability to obtain within six (6) months.

  • Light and heavy equipment operations and maintenance. Appropriate construction/maintenance practices.
  • Equipment, practices, and methods of athletic ?elds and golf course maintenance.
  • Cultivating, watering, and caring of ?owers, trees, and shrubs. Modern o?ce practices, procedures, and equipment.

  • Establishing and maintaining working relationships with professional and support sta?, vendors, the public, and City employees.
  • Assessing and prioritizing multiple tasks, projects and demands. Providing outstanding customer service and con?ict resolution.
  • Operating assigned equipment and tools in a safe and proper manner.

Physical Demands / Work Environment:
