Organization Overview
Now recruiting on behalf of a nationally established, consumer-facing franchise organization which is seeking a Chief Financial Officer to join its executive leadership team. The company operates a multi-state, franchise-driven business model within the retail/restaurant sector and is entering a new phase of disciplined growth, operational refinement, and data modernization. The organization is led by an experienced executive team and supported by an engaged ownership group. With a strong brand foundation and a committed franchise network, the company is focused on enhancing system-wide profitability, strengthening financial infrastructure, and positioning the platform for long-term value creation.

Position Summary
The Chief Financial Officer will serve as a strategic partner to the CEO and Board, leading all financial functions while helping shape the company's next stage of expansion. This executive will oversee financial planning, reporting, treasury, compliance, analytics, and governance across the franchise system. Beyond financial stewardship, the CFO will play a visible and active role in supporting franchise operators, optimizing unit-level economics, enhancing reporting capabilities, and evaluating growth initiatives. This is a hands-on leadership role within a lean organization. The successful candidate must be equally comfortable engaging in high-level strategy and rolling up their sleeves to drive execution.

Responsibility Overview
Strategic & Financial Leadership
  • Guide enterprise-wide financial strategy and long-range planning.
  • Develop scenario models to support expansion, reinvestment, and capital allocation decisions.
  • Provide forward-looking insights to executive leadership and the Board.
  • Support evaluation of strategic growth opportunities, including potential acquisitions or new development initiatives.
Franchise System Partnership
  • Act as a financial advisor to franchise operators to improve performance and profitability.
  • Enhance reporting transparency and benchmarking across the system.
  • Provide education, tools, and financial guidance to strengthen operator outcomes.
  • Maintain fluency in franchise agreement structures and royalty frameworks.
Financial Operations & Governance
  • Lead accounting, reporting, treasury, and compliance functions.
  • Oversee audit processes and ensure regulatory adherence.
  • Manage liquidity, banking relationships, and financial controls.
  • Serve as primary liaison with external auditors and Board finance leadership.
Planning & Analytics
  • Direct budgeting and forecasting processes.
  • Strengthen KPI reporting and performance dashboards.
  • Advance business intelligence capabilities and data infrastructure.
  • Promote a culture of data-driven decision-making.
Team Leadership
  • Build and mentor a high-performing finance and analytics team.
  • Foster transparency, accountability, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Operate effectively within a streamlined corporate structure.

Required Background
  • Direct experience in senior Financial Executive roles within a franchisee/franchisor business model.
  • Senior finance leadership experience in a multi-unit consumer environment (restaurant, retail, hospitality, or similar).
  • MBA / CPA strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated success improving unit-level economics across distributed operations.
  • Experience presenting to Boards and executive stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of royalty structures and franchise financial dynamics.
  • Background with a recognized consumer brand.
  • Exposure to acquisition evaluation or structured growth initiatives.
  • Experience modernizing analytics platforms and business intelligence tools.
  • Note - Requires onsite presence in Atlanta, GA

Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco/Highspring depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual's skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses, and can participate in medical, dental, and vision benefits as well as the company's 401(k) retirement plan.
