At McLane, data powers how we move millions of products every day. We're looking for a Senior BI Engineer to help design, build, and scale trusted analytics that drive decisions across our Digital Supply Chain. This role sits within our data organization and blends deep technical expertise with business partnership, turning complex operational questions into reliable, actionable insights.

This is a hybrid position which will require the candidate to report and work from the office at least three days a week. Therefore, interested candidates should be within a 50minute radius from Austin or Temple, TX.

What You'll Do

  • Design and deliver endtoend BI solutions, from data modeling and pipelines to semantic layers and dashboards
  • Translate business requirements into curated datasets, data marts, and governed metrics
  • Build and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines using SQL and Python
  • Develop enterprisegrade dashboards and reusable analytics assets (Power BI preferred)
  • Apply dimensional modeling best practices across supply chain, inventory, and transportation domains
  • Own performance tuning, observability, and data quality monitoring
  • Partner with Product, Data Engineering, Operations, and Finance to define KPIs and success measures
  • Mentor teammates, lead design reviews, and set BI engineering standards

What We're Looking For

  • 5+ years of experience in BI, data engineering, analytics development or related data roles
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • Ability to analyze complex datasets and translate findings into clear, actionable insights for Sales, Procurement, and Supply Chain teams (Preferred)
  • Advanced SQL skills and strong BI tool expertise (Looker/Power BI preferred)
  • Strong skills in LookML, Power Query, DAX, SQL, and data transformation techniques.
  • Familiarity with LookML and semantic modeling concepts
  • Handson experience with dimensional modeling and semantic layer design
  • Python experience for transformations and automation
  • Familiarity with cloud analytics platforms (GCP/Looker) and Gitbased CI/CD
  • Proven ability to deliver productionready solutions in Agile environments
  • Strong communication skills with both technical and nontechnical partners
  • This position requires the ability to read, write, and understand English at a level sufficient to perform jobrelated tasks effectively and safely. This includes understanding work instructions, safety protocols, and communications essential to the role. The requirement is directly related to the nature of the job and ensures compliance with workplace safety and operational standards.
