Munich Re America Services (MRAS) is a shared service organization that delivers services to all Munich Re US P&C Companies and other group entities.

This role supports Data and Analytics initiatives by contributing technical expertise and helping deliver data solutions from start to finish. The position assists in ensuring that data products are accurate, reliable, and aligned with business needs. Working closely with business and technology teams, this role helps improve data quality, usability, and adoption to support positive business outcomes.

Major Accountabilities:

  • Align data initiatives with business goals and strategy
  • Collaborate with business to define the vision, roadmap, and success metrics for data products (e.g., datasets, data platforms etc.)
  • Gather, prioritize, and translate business requirements into data capabilities
  • Partner with preferred suppliers to bring fit for purpose resources onto the delivery teams
  • Manage projects leveraging an Agile delivery methodology
  • Work with the business product owners to prioritize the product backlog for data engineering and analytics teams
  • Write and refine user stories related to data ingestion, transformation, quality, governance, and access
  • Balance new features, technical debt, and regulatory/compliance needs
  • Partner with data engineers and data stewards to ensure accuracy, completeness, timeliness, and consistency
  • Direct data engineering team to analyze functional requirements and drive the build of data pipelines to support solution delivery
  • Own issue triage and prioritization for data defects
  • Work closely with data engineers, architects, BI developers, DevSecOps and other platform (Databricks, Azure etc.) teams
  • Deep understanding of data warehouses/data marts/ data lake / data API's in cloud-based environments
  • Work with and/or lead data architects to ensure critical data sources/elements have been identified
  • Work with management/architecture to align architecture solutions for the aggregation and provisioning of data globally
  • Partner with data solution architects to ensure appropriate data availability in support of advanced data analytical needs for the organization
  • Closely work with both logical/conceptual and physical data modelers to deliver optimized data models that support the required technical solution
  • Provide estimates and estimation models for resourcing as needed for technical project delivery
  • Provide status reporting and partner with the PMO where needed
  • Supports all required IT organizational controls and will help to enable anything required where gapped for data specifically
  • Capacity to lead transformational programs across multiple teams

Qualifications:

Basic Knowledge, Skills, And Experience:

  • 8+ years of experience across data architecture, data engineering, data management, and data delivery in Financial Services and/or Insurance organizations
  • Experience in designing and building information assets leveraging modern technology platforms including cloud (Azure, AWS, Google, etc.)
  • Experience with cloud data pipelining technologies such as Informatica IICS and ADF
  • Experience with ETL/ELT pipelines using Databricks, Apache Distributed data processing frameworks (PySpark/Scala), and Delta Lake
  • Experience with data platforms such as Databricks, Snowflake, Oracle/SQL Server/DB2/Etc. and Informatica MDM/RDM tooling
  • Experience with Insurance platforms such as DuckCreek and/or Guidewire and their data components
  • Experience collaborating with key business partners and functional teams to ensure requirements are made available and understood by the technical delivery team
  • Experience working with global partners and leaders
  • B.S. and/or M.S. in Computer Science or equivalent
  • Previous experience helping to lead Data teams through organizational change to improve efficiency, reducing costs, and integrating business units and their capability requirements
  • Proven track record of delivering projects on time and within budget
