Railroad Reach Stacker Operator

Waste Connections

Waste Connections is seeking a skilled and safetyfocused Railroad Reach Stacker Operator to join our team. This role is responsible for operating heavy equipment to load, unload, and stack intermodal containers from railcars and trucks. We are looking for candidates with strong equipmentoperation experience, excellent situational awareness, and a commitment to working safely and efficiently in a fastpaced rail yard environment.

Pay & Schedule
  • Pay Range: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour (DOE)

  • Shift: Day Shift

  • Schedule: Monday-Friday: 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM Saturday: 7:00 AM - 12:00 PM

  • Hours: 45-55 hours per week

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate reach stacker equipment to safely load, unload, and move intermodal containers.

  • Conduct daily pretrip and posttrip inspections; report any mechanical issues.

  • Communicate clearly with ground personnel, dispatchers, and supervisors.

  • Follow all company and rail yard safety protocols at all times.

  • Maintain accurate documentation of container movements and equipment usage.

  • Support general rail yard duties as needed.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • 1-2 years of experience operating reach stackers or similar heavy equipment.

  • Familiarity with rail yard operations and intermodal logistics.

  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

  • Strong attention to detail and situational awareness.

  • Solid communication and teamwork abilities.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit for extended periods while operating equipment.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally.

  • Comfortable working in a fastpaced, physically demanding environment.

Preferred Skills
  • Knowledge of container types, stacking procedures, and safe handling practices.

  • OSHA safety training or similar certifications.
