You are a Project Accountant reporting to the Project Controller; the Project Accountant is responsible for the accurate and timely entry and reporting of data in the company financial systems. You will be responsible for: accounts receivable, subcontract management, payroll, equipment time entry, accounts payable and month end. You will partner with management and project teams to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and completeness of data.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Understand and articulate project contractual commercial terms
  • Influence the development and implementation of collective agreements
  • Communicate reporting information and interpretations with leadership
  • Prepare month end journal entries and month end reporting
  • Assist with cost vs. budget analysis and cost control
  • Coordinate the process of collection and submission of documentation required for invoicing
  • Oversee progress billings, invoices, and holdback releases
  • Assist in pursuing payment collection and work with client to resolve payment issues
  • Monitor and report on underbilling and accounts receivable aging
  • Review accounts payable invoices to assess tax and ensure payments are issued timely
  • Extract equipment information and process weekly/monthly equipment time entry
  • Collaborate with field teams and payroll group to ensure time entry is completed in a timely manner
  • Work with the operations team to identify cost overages and potential change orders
  • Assist in annual budget development

Qualifications:

  • The ideal candidate will have 1-3 years of experience in a similar role
  • Experience within commercial construction, Telecom or a related industry is preferred
  • Knowledge of JD Edwards or similar large ERP is preferred
  • Financial acumen regarding costing, rates, and profitability analysis
  • Working knowledge of construction accounting principles
  • Working knowledge of construction software systems
  • Strong analytical skills and problem solving
  • High organizational skill with strong attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook)

Work Conditions:

  • This is a hybrid role with the expectation of 2-3 of working days per week in the Richardson office/site
