This role focuses on predicting, evaluating, and optimizing vehicle crashworthiness and occupant protection performance to meet regulatory, consumer, and internal safety targets throughout the vehicle development lifecycle.

What You Will Do:

  • Perform structural crashworthiness and occupant safety simulations (frontal, side, rear, rollover, pedestrian protection, etc.)
  • Execute occupant safety simulations with dummy and human body models and evaluate occupant injury performance
  • Perform correlation studies between CAE results and physical crash test data
  • Use FE analysis to guide physical test plans and develop test matrices
  • Work closely with crash performance test engineers to support the following activities:

    • Type: Conducting full vehicle, system, sled, and component-level evaluations
    • Pre-test: Developing test plans/set-up, attending, and conducting tests
    • Post-test: Performing data analysis, teardowns/inspection, and reporting

  • Strong analytical skills to make meaningful conclusions from CAE simulations as well as physical tests
  • In-depth understanding of LS-Dyna explicit solver/material models/element formulation
  • Strong knowledge of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS), NCAP, and IIHS safety evaluations
  • Experience using data analysis tools (e.g., DIAdem, Hyperworks, Excel, etc.) for testing purposes
