General Description: In alignment with the NWRESD's mission statement, this licensed position provides targeted academic instruction to migrant students in grades K*12, while prioritizing students in grades 6-12 during program initiation. This position focuses on one-to-one and small group tutoring designed to address learning gaps, support credit accrual, and promote academic success for highly mobile students. The tutor works collaboratively with students, families, and school staff to deliver culturally responsive, standards-aligned instruction that supports students' academic goals, graduation pathways, and postsecondary readiness. Tutoring services may include support in core academic subjects, skill development, and study strategies, with instruction tailored to individual student needs. The tutor uses communication with school staff, ongoing assessment and progress monitoring to adjust instruction and ensure meaningful academic growth while maintaining compliance with Migrant Education Program (MEP) requirements. This position also includes family outreach and student caseload management in collaboration with MEP staff. The MEP Academic Support Tutor will also be responsible for maintaining and prioritizing student contact lists, coordinating tutoring schedules, and documenting services provided. The tutor assists families with onboarding students and families by communicating available services in a culturally and linguistically responsive manner and serving as a point of contact for academic support.

1. Valid Oregon teacher's license with appropriate subject area endorsement 2. Experience with a variety of age-appropriate instructional, assessment, and student management strategies that reflect current research on best practices. 3. Master's degree preferred 4. Spanish Bilingual and biliteracy skills required 5. Valid Driver's License; available transportation and proof of auto insurance 6. Possession of CPR/First Aid certification or the ability to obtain preferred
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES: 1. Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collect, analyze and interpret different types of student data, and to use information to inform instruction 8. Experience in the education of children who exhibit behavior and emotional disorders, including effective strategies for managing behavior 9. Observe laws, NWRESD policies and procedures, and professional standards for this position 10. Respect confidential information and the privacy of students, staff, and families 11. Knowledge of state and federal education laws and of student and staff rights 12. Ability to direct the work of other staff members 13. Prior experience working with students with behavioral needs preferred 14. Ability to travel when needed to Clatsop, Columbia, Tillamook, and Washington counties
Essential Functions: Include the following. Performs some or all of the following tasks. Other Duties may be assigned. The duties listed below are not inclusive, but characteristic of the type and level of work assigned for this position.
A. Develop and deliver instruction to students in assigned curriculum area, using self-designed and adopted curriculum aligned with Oregon state standards B. Assess student progress regularly, keeping accurate records and providing progress reports as required, and communicating with families as deemed necessary C. Create a learning environment that is appropriate to the maturity and interest level of the students; develop rules of behavior that are taught and reinforced in a fair and just manner D. Differentiate curriculum to meet the individual learning needs and interests of students with a wide range of performance levels E. Employ a variety of instructional techniques to meet the learning needs of a diverse group of learners F. Participate fully with other educational team members in the decisions regarding the students in the program G. Utilize appropriate strategies (behavioral and instructional), materials, and other available resources that will assist the student in achieving instructional goals and objectives H. Develop and maintain effective communication with team members, families, colleagues, and administrators I. Assist the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life J. Work collaboratively and communicate effectively with staff and agency partners at all organizational levels K. Assists other teachers in implementing curriculum L. Collaborates with school personnel, parents and various community agencies for the purpose of improving the quality of student outcomes, developing solutions and planning curriculum. M. Meet performance standards for all licensed staff contained in the District's Evaluation Handbook for Licensed Educators N.
