Summary

Job Description:

Nurse Educator - OB

Full-Time, primarily 8a - 4:30p; shift may vary based on departmental needs.

Independently functions as an instructor, coordinator, and/or designer of a variety of health-related programs focusing on clinical and patient care staff education.

• Coordinate and facilitate orientation/onboarding for new employees, agency staff, and internal transfers.

• Plan, implement, and assess initial and ongoing staff competencies.

• Provide classroom instruction and skills training to support clinical education and development.

• Serve as an active member on relevant councils and committees.

• Maintain flexibility to support night and weekend shifts as needed.

Requirements:

• Associate of Science in Nursing (ADN) degree from an accredited institution.

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required or must be obtained within 12 months of hire.

• Current unrestricted licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of Kentucky required.

• Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 90 days of hire.

• Certification in professional development or other nursing specialty required within 5 years of hire.

• For certain areas such as Birthplace, Surgical and/or Emergency Departments certain certifications may be required upon hire or within a specific time frame.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree from an accredited institution preferred.

• Previous classroom teaching experience preferred.

• Working knowledge of adult learning principles.

• Writing, group presentation, individual counseling, test development, program planning and implementation skills.

• ACLS and/or PALS provider status preferred.

• Computer skills and ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel. Outlook and PowerPoint.

• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple activities and complete tasks within a limited time frame.

• Demonstrates transformational leadership skills
