The individual will work closely with the Tree Care Specialist to ensure newly planted trees receive proper watering, mulching, and basic protection so they can thrive in an urban campus environment. |

- Ability to follow GPS coordinates or digital maps to locate specific trees throughout the university campus
Physical Requirements
- Ability to perform physically demanding outdoor work, including walking long distances, working in extreme heat or rain, and repeatedly lifting up to 40 pounds with or without reasonable accommodations
Driving Requirements
- Must possess a valid North Carolina driver's license and be comfortable operating, or willing to learn to operate, a utility terrain vehicle (UTV)..

High-Volume Watering
- Assist with the daily operation of water tanks and hoses to ensure newly planted trees receive adequate hydration during their critical first three years of establishment.
Manual Maintenance
- Perform tasks such as mulching, manual weed removal from tree rings, and installing protective materials such as deer guards and trunk wraps.
Site Preparation
- Assist with digging, clearing planting sites, and transporting soil amendments or compost to designated planting areas.
Logistics Support
- Load and unload tools, mulch, and supplies from utility vehicles (UTVs). Ensure all tools are cleaned and stored properly at the end of each shift.
Basic Observation
- Identify and report visible signs of tree stress or damage, such as broken stakes, fallen guards, or severe wilting, to the Tree Care Specialist.
