Job Summary

This position is the primary business systems analyst for the Oracle System/UCPath for the academic populations.

Having wide-ranging experience, applies business process and analysis concepts and organizational objectives to resolve issues, up to and including the most complex, with campus / medical center / OP-wide, institution-wide and / or multi-institutional impact. Works on issues, up to and including the most complex, with little or no organizational precedent, where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. Recognized as a subject matter expert. Analyzes business needs, identifies system solutions, translates them to technical teams, and develops training and communication materials. Briefs senior leaders on issues and recommend solutions, and participate in governance groups. Represents UCSF systemwide in various user groups.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $150,300 - $225,400 (Annual Rate).

Department Description

The Office of Faculty and Academic Affairs (OFAA) supports the full life cycle of academic actions, including the recruitment, development, mentoring, and retention of the highest-caliber diverse faculty. The Office provides leadership, training, and guidance in the development and implementation of policies and procedures relating to academic personnel. The Office is committed to improving the work life and academic environment for faculty to support innovative and collaborative approaches for education, research and health care at UCSF.

Required Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
  • Minimum of 10 years of directly related experience
  • Expert knowledge of large scale, complex business and process analysis functions
  • Knowledge relating to the design and development of diverse and complex processes and software across the organization
  • Thorough knowledge of other areas of IT including business process methodologies and analysis techniques
  • Expert skills and methodologies associated with analysis of processes and issues, information flow and architecture
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with executive-level management on a regular basis
  • Advanced knowledge and experience with process, information and enterprise architecture frameworks such as Zachman, TOGAF (The Open Group Architecture Framework, DODAF, ITIL, et cetera)
  • Understanding of enterprise business needs and how highly complex business systems can support those needs
  • Demonstrated skills needed to develop process and system implementation plans
  • Demonstrated experience with process analysis, systems analysis, process architectures and systems analysis methodologies and practices including traditional waterfall, Agile, Agile Scrum, UML, UML Enterprise, et cetera
  • Understanding and skill in highly complex processes and systems requirements documentation standards, such as Use Case modeling, User Story creations and narrative description
  • Demonstrated ability to work with others from diverse backgrounds
  • Self-motivated and works independently and as part of a team. Able to learn effectively and meet deadlines. Demonstrates problem solving skills
  • Expert knowledge of business processes and procedures
  • Demonstrated testing and test planning skills
  • Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to communicate technical information to technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization.
