Job Description

MIDE is seeking a Mechanical Engineer-II who has experience in mechanical design, fabrication, and testing in a variety of areas including: robotic systems, unmanned aircraft, high power electronics, design for manufacturing, and additive manufacturing.

Duties/ Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design for manufacturing of a large (10,000 lb+) multi-agent robotic platform.
  • All aspects of production-ready design (safety, usability, reliability, etc.)
  • Manufacture components where necessary and interface with shop technicians
  • Assemble and test vehicle in concert with undergraduate and graduate students
  • Documentation including but not limited to technical reports and briefings internally and externally.
  • Design work for Defense and RF applications
  • Strong communication, both verbal and written, and organizational/time-management skills.
  • Interface with multiple engineering and non-engineering cross-functional team members.

NOTE: This position is 100% grant funded and is contingent on continued funding.

Shift

Full time, Monday-Friday, 8 am - 5 pm or comparable. As a results-orientated organization, we support flexible schedules. Expect occasional travel for research collaborations, conference attendance, and offsite briefings.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Ability to acquire and maintain a United States security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

The ideal team member will demonstrate:

  • an ability to manage and train (where necessary) small teams while meeting project deadlines.

  • excellent organizational skills to prioritize and execute on both long-term and short parallel assignments.

Strongly Preferred Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering or related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience (during or after degree acquisition) from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired.
  • Experience with CAD tools, specifically for design to manufacture/machine/assemble.
  • Experience designing, fabricating, and testing electromechanical systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Solidworks CSWA or CSWP certification (or similar).
  • Existing Secret clearance or ability to obtain an interim Secret clearance prior to start date.
  • Teaching, mentoring and coaching experience for all ages, disciplines.
Anticipated Hiring Range

The anticipated hiring range for this position has been established as $75,000 - $90,000 annually.

Salary is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to, the individual's particular combination of education, skills, and experience, as well as organizational requirements.
