Job Description

JOB SUMMARY

The Biostatistician plans, executes, and interprets statistical analysis to ensure the statistical integrity and accuracy of biomedical or clinical research data. Applies statistical theory, methods, and mathematical expertise to biological, public health, and medical research to design studies, collect, analyze, and interpret complex data. Develop methodologies for acquiring high-quality data, choose and implement appropriate analysis models, identify trends, and communicate findings to guide public health policy, clinical decision-making. Present statistical findings to internal teams, external collaborators, and regulatory agencies. Ensure that all statistical activities comply with ethical standards, regulatory requirements, and industry guidelines. Recognized as subject matter expert and advanced individual contributor professional. Conducts highly complex work with full autonomy and extensive latitude for independent judgment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Must perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the hospital's policies and procedures, including its Service Standards and its Code of Conduct.

* Design research studies and clinical trials, determining the necessary sample size and planning how to collect accurate and reliable data.

* Extract, store, and prepare large datasets for analysis, including cleaning and reorganizing existing data.

* Use sophisticated statistical models and techniques to analyze data, often dealing with complex structures and missing values to find meaningful patterns and relationships.

* Interpret results of analyses to draw conclusions and inform stakeholders, presenting findings in reports, manuscripts, and presentations.

* Develop new statistical methods, algorithms, and visualization approaches to help stakeholders understand and implement study findings.

Additional duties include:

* Assist PIs with developing a priori analytical plans

* Advise on data structure, cleaning, and management best practices

* Perform line-by-line quality control checks of PI data management or analysis scripts to verify accuracy

* Conduct statistical analyses for ongoing research and health analytic projects using SAS, R, or similar software

* Prepare scripts for constructed variables using pre-specified criteria and data

* Prepare metadata and data dictionaries to describe tabular data and accompany a repository to ensure study replicability

* Prepare reports, tables, and visualizations to support findings

* Support manuscript preparation and grant writing

* Design, implement, and analyze clinical trials and epidemiological studies

* Ensure compliance with FDA, NIH, or other regulatory standards

* Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying.

Education: Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Biostatistics or related discipline/field from an accredited college or university.

Experience: Five (5) years of direct experience in biostatistics or related.

License/Certification: None.

KNOWLEDGE

These are the observable and measurable attributes and skills required to perform successfully the essential functions of the job and are generally demonstrated through qualifying experience, education or licensure/certification.

* Strong understanding of statistical principles, methods, and software; expertise in SAS programming

* Ability to clean large, complex datasets and perform data management using REDCap and similar databases; prepare accompanying metadata and data dictionaries

* Proficiency in various data analysis types: hypothesis testing, regression (linear, logistic, mixed-effects), survival analysis, and longitudinal modeling (e.g., GEE)

* Ability to incorporate variable/data structures: wide and long-format datasets, repeated measures, time-to-event data, categorical and continuous variables, and hierarchical/nested structures

* Comfortable collaborating on research, evidence-based practice, and quality improvement projects

* Strong critical thinking skills to evaluate data, identify biases, and draw valid conclusions

* Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to interact well with individuals at all levels

* Organized with the ability to balance multiple projects simultaneously

* Knowledge of advanced techniques such as data science and machine learning for analyzing large datasets efficiently

Pay Range

Compensation is based on the level and requirements of the role.

Salary within our ranges may also be determined by your education, experience, knowledge, skills, location, and abilities, as required by the role, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.

Typically, new team members join at the minimum to mid salary range.

Minimum to Midpoint Range (Hourly): $56.96 to $75.52
