Essential Functions & Responsibilities

Project Manager, Rail As a Project Manager, Rail you will assess and manage projects related to truck and rail equipment, labor, length of project and cost. This role determines the regulatory and technical aspects of the project and manages the project from start to finish.

The Project Manger will be responsible for completing site visits before, during and after the project to ensure safety and satisfaction to internal and external stakeholders and project support to other project managers.

  • Prioritizes health and safety by adhering to policies, processes, and maintaining safe practices at all times
  • Plans for initiation of project by scheduling resources and drivers, completing site visits, and ordering supplies and equipment required
  • Manages large, technically and logistically complex shipping campaigns from remediation projects involving transportation and offsite disposal
  • Completes waybill and tracking of railcars loaded with TSCA and/or RCRA hazardous waste; plans project railcar capacity needs in the most efficient manner to fulfill customer needs and avoid demurrage and private railcar storage
  • Interfaces with and provides direction to internal and external stakeholder, contractors, subcontractors and railroads
  • Maintains productive and positive customer relationships throughout project and provides progress reporting in a timely, concise and relevant manner to customers, leadership and colleagues
  • Maintains responsibility for project productivity and adherence to timeframe and budget; ensures proper safety procedures are being followed at projects and rail yards
  • Assists with broader project planning and budget creation; writes proposals to outline budget and scope of proposed projects as needed
  • Ensures customers are properly billed in a timely manner
  • Travels as needed, up to 75%
  • Takes on additional duties as assigned to support the team and organization


Education

- Bachelor's degree (required)


Experience

  • 3+ years of project management experience in hazardous waste management or environmental services with project management (required) -OR-
  • In lieu of degree, 7+ years of project management experience in hazardous waste management or environmental services (required)
