Special Instructions to Applicants

The program runs on campus from June 28 through August 7, with training to be scheduled the prior to the start of instruction. All course materials are due by June 1 for review and approval. The average work day will depend on which course and how many you instruct. Classes run from 9:30 am - 11:30 am, 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm, and 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm daily.

There are over 50 courses offered which include but are not limited to:
Psychology, Business of Fashion, Economics, Mock Trial, Creative Writing, Artificial Intelligence, Film Production, Rec Sports, Computer Programming, Forensic Science, Advertising, Marketing & Public Relations, Hospitality and Event Planning, and many, many more.


Department Summary

UCLA Recreation is a large department within the Division of Campus Life in Student Affairs with approximately 90 career and contract full-time employees and over 1,000 part-time employees. UCLA Recreation provides extensive access to a broad range of recreational activities and wellbeing services, and offers programming which encompasses the competitive, passive, social, cultural, and instructional aspects of recreational activity. In addition, the department manages 15 of the University's recreational and athletic facilities offering recreation, competition, and numerous multi-use options for student and university events.
Position Summary

As a High School Programs Instructor for our summer pre-college academic enrichment program, you will guide middle and/or high school students through their first glimpse of the college experience. In this role, you will be working with the Sales Systems and Youth Events Specialist. Each instructor is responsible for developing a course curriculum, syllabus, and daily lesson plans based on existing course descriptions, and a capstone project/final presentation for each class. Additional responsibilities include the request and management of supplies, daily attendance, writing an evaluation for each student at the end of each course, and teaching multi grade level students all while providing an energetic, interactive, and project based classroom experience.

The ideal candidate genuinely wants to make a difference in the lives of our students, who come from around the world to participate in this rigorous and rewarding program to gain valuable insight into higher level learning and what on campus life will be.

Candidates must be able to work independently and effectively with the ability to problem solve under pressure, all while maintaining courtesy and professionalism.


Salary & Compensation

Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Qualifications
