DESCRIPTION

Under the general supervision of Cancer Services leadership, and in addition to performing the full range of operational level duties, the Clinical Social Worker II is responsible for administering social work services, including comprehensive psychosocial assessment and psychosocial support surrounding crisis intervention, adjustment to illness, psychoeducation and anticipatory guidance related to treatment, mental health, substance use, mandated reporting, transportation, lodging, financial/grant support, barriers to care/compliance, and linkage to additional resources as needed.

The Clinical Social Worker II is responsible for educating and advocating for patients and families and will be required to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team as well as outside agencies. The Clinical Social Worker II participates in related department functions, such as community and program education. Performs all other duties as assigned.

The Per Diem Clinical Social Worker II position will serve multiple cancer disease teams across multiple sites (Hillcrest, La Jolla, Encinitas, Vista) to assist with coverage. Hours will be between regular business hours, M-F, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm, and will be used for coverage during leaves and as needed for additional support.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master's Degree from an accredited school of Social Work (MSW).

  • A minimum of two (2) years post-MSW experience.

  • Must possess the knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position.

  • Must have proven independent thinking, decision-making, problem-solving, and prioritizing skills.

  • Excellent skills to communicate and influence effectively with all levels of staff, physicians, patients, and external constituents, both verbally and in writing.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) - issued by the state of California.

  • Bilingual in both English and Spanish.

  • Epic experience.

  • Prior experience in oncology, palliative care, hospice, and/or medical social work with sensitivity to cultural factors that influence care needs.

  • Utilization of research to improve clinical practice and implement evidence-based psychosocial support programs, services, and interventions.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
  • Must have a minimum of three days of availability.
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and a pre-employment physical.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $114,924 - $114,924 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $55.04 - $55.04

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
