DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will act as the lead investigator for District Mining Operations, overseeing the execution of the monitoring and compliance program for both District Mining Operations and the Bureau of Mining Programs. Your main goal will be to safeguard the environment and ensure the health, welfare, and safety of the public. You will investigate public complaints related to various issues, including blasting activities, the degradation of private and public water supplies, environmental harm, and public health and safety, following the guidelines set forth in the Department's Technical Guidance Document. Additionally, you will perform thorough inspections of coal and non-coal surface mines, assess the surface impacts of underground coal mines, and evaluate coal refuse disposal areas, coal preparation, and coal handling facilities, all in accordance with the Department's Technical Guidance Document. You will also carry out partial inspections of these sites to ensure compliance and address any potential concerns. Interested in learning more? Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Travel will be required
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) full-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year of experience as an Environmental Protection Trainee in the surface mining program (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- Three years of progressively responsible surface mining and conservation experience; or
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
Other Requirements:
- This particular position also requires possession of a valid PA non-commercial Class C driver's license or equivalent.

- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
