Job Description:

Microchip is seeking an experienced Applications Engineer (AE) to join the Analog Power and Interface Business Unit and CAN BUS product line to support new product development and provide customer support. AEs work with our marketers and field teams (applications and sales engineers) to define and provide new devices in support to our customers. They develop demonstrations, generate product support materials (application notes, presentations, etc.), and visit field offices / customer sites to support Microchip's CAN bus devices. They also interact with the product development team to help ensure that end customer requirements are considered when defining and developing new products.

Requirements/Qualifications:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with customers to reproduce issues and assist with integrating products into their designs
  • Create documents, such as application notes, datasheets, and errata
  • Analyze customer issues and product returns
  • Create demonstrations for new products or systems
  • Contribute to new product definition

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering (EE) or similar (Electronics, Automatics); Master's degree in related field a plus
  • Minimum of 7+ years of relevant experience
  • Strong Firmware / Embedded Systems development and debug skills
  • Strong hardware debugging skills, automating tests with Oscilloscopes and Logic Analyzers
  • Experience designing, developing, and testing firmware using the C programming language
  • Good communication skills
  • Fluent in English

Desired Skills:

  • Basic Linux knowledge
  • Experience developing debug tools using scripting languages (Java, Tcl/Tk, Perl, Python, etc.)
  • Experience with digital IC architecture
  • Experience with serial protocols: SPI, LIN, CAN
  • Experience with automotive Systems
  • Customer facing experience

The annual base salary range for this position, which could be performed in the US, is $75,000.00 - $232,000.00.*

*Range is dependent on numerous factors including job location, skills and experience.
