Alaka`ina Foundation Family of Companies is looking for an Electronic Technician A - CAT3 to support our government customer in Kekaha, Hawai'i.

Independently or under minimum supervision is able to troubleshoot, repair, inspect, overhaul, modify, calibrate, install, operate and perform other related tasks on Information Technology (IT) systems or equipment within the PMRF Area of Operations.

DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs periodic inspections and maintenance tasks in accordance with published procedures and/or OEM guidelines. Documents results of all maintenance actions in systems and equipment records.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs systems/equipment by reading and interpreting electronic/mechanical schematics and flow charts and using simple and complex test equipment.
  • Installs, checks, calibrates and performs acceptance tests on new and relocated systems and equipment.
  • Provides operation and maintenance training to other technicians.
  • Performs basic networking operation to include log extraction, VLAN assignment, network configuration review or similar related tasks.
  • Installs, relocates and repairs IT equipment to include servers, workstations, networking components, Universal Power Supply (UPS), scanners, Printers & other related peripheral equipment.
  • Troubleshoots and resolves interoperability problems across a variety of IT platforms, LAN network software and hardware.
  • May be assigned as IAT (Information Assurance Technician) duties to include STIGs and IAVM remediation.
  • Assist in documentation of IT components to include updating network drawings from logical and physical perspective.
  • Assists in preparing and developing new procedures, procedural changes and modification proposals.
  • Maintains configuration control on assigned systems to include assigned equipment inventories, classified safe inventories.
  • May be requested to perform IT Service Desk duties and Operational Support for PMRF Network Operational Center according to Departmental and Company procedures. Working hours are flexible according to Operational requirements.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Office conditions are varied and include physical tasks including lifting, pushing or pulling over fifty (50) pounds (with a 2-person assist). Physical positions will include but not be limited to walking, standing or sitting for extended periods of time, and crawling, kneeling or cramped work, requiring repeated stooping. (May be required to work in sub-floor areas and crawl spaces in performing maintenance inspections and troubleshoot tasks.) The environment will include customer contact, extended workdays, in a confined work area, field assignments, sometimes in inclement weather. (Electronics shop environment at various operating locations throughout PMRF.)

REQUIRED DEGREE/EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:

  • High School or equivalent
  • Two (2) years technical school
  • Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain the certification requirements within DOD 8570.01-M and an Operating Environment Certification commensurate with contract requirements. The DOD 8570.01-M is mandatory with 60 days of employment for continued employment. Certification within the required Computing Environment must be obtained within six (6) months of employment.
  • An Operating Environment (i.e Modern Desktop Administrator Associate i.e. Windows 10 (MDAA) Certification, Cisco (ICND1) and Juniper (JNCIA) certification). All certifications are expected to be completed within twelve (12) months.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Eight (8) years in the IT to include LAN hardware & software installation and maintenance is required.
  • Knowledge of IT systems, to include Windows, LINUX and comprehensive networking concepts
  • Must be able to pass a minimum skills test prior to employment
  • Possess the following PC skills: Word, Excel, and Outlook

REQUIRED CITIZENSHIP AND CLEARANCE:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Top Secret security clearance is required. (Applicants selected either must currently possess a Secret clearance or will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements to obtain clearance prior to commencement of employment and maintain a security clearance for access to classified information or Closed/Restricted Areas throughout duration of employment.)
