Learning & Development Specialist (HR Training / LMS)
Purpose
- Valkyrie Enterprises is seeking a Learning & Development Specialist to support employee growth and workforce readiness through structured learning programs, training initiatives, and professional development opportunities. This role focuses on improving employee skills, knowledge, and performance while supporting the administration and organization of the company's Learning Management System (LMS).
- The Learning & Development Specialist will collaborate with HR, program leaders, and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to design and deliver practical learning and training solutions that support onboarding, compliance, and workforce development. The ideal candidate is technically savvy, organized, and collaborative, with the ability to translate policies, procedures, and operational knowledge into clear and engaging learning experiences.
- This position is based in Virginia Beach, VA and involves regular in-office collaboration with employees and program leaders across the organization, with flexibility considered where appropriate.
Job Description
Training & Development
- Assess training needs across departments to identify skill gaps and development opportunities.
- Design and develop training programs including onboarding, professional development, leadership development, and compliance training.
- Deliver training sessions both in person and virtually, including facilitating PM training, Lunch & Learns, and other sessions as needed.
- Develop learning materials such as presentations, guides, job aids, SOPs, and eLearning modules.
- Translate policies, procedures, and SME knowledge into clear, practical training content.
Learning Management System (LMS) Administration
- Support administration and organization of the company's Learning Management System (Paycor LMS).
- Upload and maintain training content, courses, and learning pathways.
- Manage course assignments, enrollments, and learning records.
- Generate LMS reports to track training completion and support compliance and workforce development initiatives.
- Assist employees with LMS access and basic system troubleshooting.
Workforce Development & Evaluation
- Evaluate training effectiveness through feedback, assessments, and performance metrics.
- Support employee career development initiatives and learning pathways.
- Coordinate leadership development or certification programs as needed.
- Partner with HR and leadership to ensure training aligns with organizational goals.
Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure training programs support company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain accurate training records and documentation.
- Ensure learning materials remain current, accessible, and aligned with company standards.
Innovation
- Identify opportunities to improve training delivery using practical learning tools and technologies.
- Explore modern approaches such as microlearning, digital learning resources, and video-based training.
- Leverage modern learning tools, including the responsible use of AI-assisted technologies, to improve training development efficiency and learner engagement.
Qualifications
- Must have a Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Business Administration, Education, or a related field and 3+ years of experience designing, delivering, or managing employee training or learning & development programs.
- Must have experience supporting or administering a Learning Management System (LMS).
- Must have strong presentation, facilitation, and communication skills.
- Must have the ability to translate technical or operational processes into clear training materials.
- Must have strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience developing eLearning content or digital learning materials, preferred.
- Familiarity with authoring tools such as Articulate 360, Rise, Storyline, or similar platforms, preferred.
- Experience with Paycor LMS or similar enterprise learning management systems, preferred.
- HR or learning certifications such as SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, ATD CPTD, or CPLP, preferred.
- Experience supporting training programs in government, defense, or regulated industries, preferred.
- Interest in leveraging modern learning tools and responsible AI applications to enhance training effectiveness, preferred.

- Occasional Travel-Up to 10%
- If position requires travel by domestic flight or access to secure federal facilities/military bases, candidate must be able to obtain (by start of position) and maintain appropriate identification credentials, such as REAL ID. Physical Requirements:
- Remaining in a stationary position, often standing, or sitting for prolonged periods.

Pay Range: $70,000 - $85,000 per year |
