The Global Studies Program at the University of Virginia College and Graduate School of Arts & Sciences is seeking applications for the position of Department Manager. This position plays a key role in supporting the day-to-day operations of the department and contributing to a thriving academic and research environment. Global Studies is an interdisciplinary and dynamic program which works with both the Vice President for Global Affairs' office and the College of Arts & Sciences. Our faculty includes people with 100% appointments in Global Studies, as well as faculty jointly appointed with other Arts & Sciences Departments and in schools including Medicine and Architecture. The Department Manager will oversee essential functions across the department, with primary responsibilities in faculty and student administration and support, program planning and development, academic and community engagement, and budget and finance. Physical Demands: This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs. Salary Range: The anticipated hiring range is $63,000 - $77,000 annually, commensurate with education and experience. Exemption Status: This is an exempt-level, benefited position.
