OVERVIEW
Merrick & Company is seeking an experienced Senior Level Registered Architect to lead projects in our Atlanta, GA, Charlotte, NC, and Space Coast (Melbourne, FL area) offices. Client projects for this position require U.S. Citizenship. We are seeking candidates who are eager for both personal and professional growth, possess a strong understanding of design and construction document processes, and can adapt to both short-term and long-term projects in a creative yet technically demanding environment. A hybrid schedule will be supported. Annual salary range for this position is $125,400.00 - $162,300.00.Pay offered may vary depending on job related knowledge, skills, and experience.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Serve as architectural lead for projects in a multi-disciplinary A&E firm team environment.
- Provide architectural design for Department of Defense (DoD) and Department of Energy (DOE) governmental facilities.
- Work in a design team environment, including directing and mentoring the work of junior architects and designers, and delegating work as required as well as providing management of the local team.
- Coordinate with project managers to directly supervise the team's design, schedule and technical delivery.
- Perform various design tasks including Code Reviews, Conceptual Design Studies, Program Requirements, Specification writing, and Construction Document preparation and redlines.
- Ensure internal communication and coordination of design efforts.
- Coordinate all support activities required to complete all design efforts and quality assurance processes.
- Work with other disciplines to ensure accuracy of the package, meet schedule and budget commitments.
- Contribute to project proposals providing architectural effort hours, scope of services, list of deliverables and more.
- Meet with clients to prepare and/or validate proposed scope of work.
- Prepare fee proposals for Architectural design work.
- Travel to client sites and for project meetings, design charrettes, and site surveys as needed.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Must understand the importance of Business Development and project management for E-A firms.
- Must be able to manage projects and demonstrate leadership skills in a multi-disciplinary environment.
- Minimum of twelve (12) years of professional experience, including at least five (5) years as a Registered Architect.
- Bachelor's degree in architecture.
- Proven experience across all phases of design, with a demonstrated track record of successful project delivery.
- Code-intensive analysis and federal project experience.
- Ability to lead and mentor a team of architects, providing oversight and direction to project teams.
- Outstanding communication skills with the ability to effectively engage clients, project teams, and internal stakeholders.
- Demonstrated familiarity with project management practices, collaborating closely with Project Managers on project scheduling, staffing plans, and budgeting.
- Proficient in Revit (required), AutoCAD, 3D modeling software (SketchUp preferred), and Adobe Creative Suite.
- Skilled in Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and PowerPoint.
- Client project requirements mandate S. Citizenship.
- Local candidates or candidates willing to relocate to the Atlanta, GA; Charlotte, NC, or Space Coast, Florida areas.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor of Architecture (5-year accredited program) or master's degree in architecture.
- NCARB accredited.
- LEED Accredited Professional preferred.
- Experience in construction administration and construction techniques.
- Strong ability to apply technical judgement to ensure projects are compliant with design standards.
- Experience with project management software. Newforma is a plus.
- Understanding of project management concepts including scheduling, organizing and prioritizing tasks; executing large scale projects.
