Education Abroad Advisor

This role offers the opportunity to provide comprehensive support and guidance to individual students and groups throughout the application, pre-departure, abroad, and returnee phases of their education abroad journeys. As part of a small but busy team, the Advisor will play a key role in marketing education abroad and scholarship opportunities on-campus and ensuring that all Davidson students have access to high-impact international experiences.

Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Advise students about education abroad options and programs compatible with their academic and career goals, interests, financial, and individual needs. Demonstrate and provide information on application procedures.
  • Work closely with students, faculty, staff, and program partners throughout promotion, application, and administrative processes.
  • Develop and maintain up-to-date knowledge of Davidson's portfolio of education abroad options, including faculty-led summer and semester programs, provider programs, and other international educational opportunities; organize and maintain program promotional materials.
  • Provide targeted advising and promotion for Davidson and external scholarship and grant opportunities; develop and maintain scholarship resources and assist with scholarship and grant process management.
  • Develop and maintain up-to-date knowledge about Davidson's academic departments and other campus units to understand administrative needs and educational objectives as they relate to international programs.
  • Organize and assist in education abroad office outreach and events, including presentations, workshops, tabling, pre-departure orientations, and reentry programming. Represent Education Abroad in other promotional events on campus.
  • Support office marketing initiatives to increase awareness and participation in education abroad opportunities; create and distribute print and digital marketing materials, including brochures, flyers, social media posts, mail campaigns, and web content.
  • Using website and Terra Dotta software system, work closely with other staff members to facilitate and update application cycles, monitor applications and travel registrations, extract data, disseminate information, and provide requested reports on education abroad activity and feedback.
  • Other duties as assigned.



Minimum Required Education, Skills and Experience:



  • Bachelor's degree
  • Previous experience studying abroad at the undergraduate level; personal experience with and enthusiasm for international education
  • Minimum of one year professional experience in higher education administration
  • Highly organized with demonstrated reliability, attention to accuracy and detail, problem-solving, and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent listening, oral and written communication skills and demonstrated ability to work well with others
  • Candidate must be comfortable exercising independent judgment while working under general supervision
  • Strong computer literacy and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, and database management systems



Preferred Education, Skills and Experience:



  • Master's degree in a field related to international education preferred
  • One or more years of professional experience in an education abroad office
  • Experience with website management and Terra Dotta software or similar record management systems
  • Interest in and experience with creating marketing materials using platforms such as Canva
  • Experience working closely with students of diverse backgrounds
  • Proficiency in a foreign language
  • Knowledge of standards of good practice for education abroad and professional associations related to education abroad
