Description

We are seeking a visionary and results-driven Director of Interregional Planning and Cost Allocation who will lead the organization's efforts to advance transmission planning across regional boundaries while maintaining a framework for evaluating benefits and allocating costs for regional and interregional transmission projects and portfolios. This role will ensure planning processes are transparent, data-driven, and compliant with regulatory requirements while supporting reliability, economic efficiency, and member goals.

The Director will also partner across internal functions to ensure the value of transmission development is identified and costs are allocated appropriately. Through strong strategic leadership, technical oversight, and stakeholder engagement, this role will drive coordinated regional and interregional planning outcomes.

Key Responsibilities



  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute long-term operational strategies aligned with corporate goals and industry trends.
  • Change Management: Lead transformational initiatives to modernize grid systems, optimize performance, and enhance system resilience.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with executive leadership, regulatory bodies, and internal teams to influence outcomes and foster alignment.
  • Operational Excellence: Oversee planning processes with a focus on reliability, compliance, and innovation.
  • Organizational Development: Build and mentor high-performing teams, cultivating leadership capability and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Represent the organization in industry forums, regulatory discussions, and community outreach to advocate for operational priorities.

    The base salary compensation range being offered for this role is $196,000-$221,000 USD annually. Base salary range for this position is included in accordance with requirements of various state/local pay transparency legislation. Please note that salaries may vary for different individuals in the same role based on several factors, including but not limited to location of the role, individual competencies, education/professional certifications, and qualifications/experience.

    Education
    Bachelors of Public Policy (required)
    Bachelors of Economics (required)
    Bachelors of Energy Systems (required)
    Bachelors of Engineering (required)
    Experience
    Experience in transmission planning, benefits valuation, or transmission cost allocation within an ISO/RTO, utility, or regulatory environment. (required)
    Proven leadership experience managing technical teams and overseeing complex planning initiatives or programs. (required)
    Deep understanding of interregional transmission planning, cost allocation methodologies, and transmission benefit valuation frameworks. (required)
    Experience engaging effectively with regulators, stakeholders, and cross-functional technical teams to drive alignment and informed decision-making. (required)
    Demonstrated success leading interregional or multi-jurisdictional planning initiatives involving multiple organizations or regulatory bodies. (required)
    Ability and willingness to travel up to 25% as needed to support stakeholder engagement and organizational priorities. (required)
