Managing Director - Investment Banking

This role requires a minimum of 3 days per week working in our New York City office.

Aon is looking for a Managing Director in Aon Securities, our investment banking group. This role will be responsible for originating, structuring, and marketing transactions to provide debt-related financing and capital for insurance companies. Close collaboration with all members of the Aon Securities team, including its catastrophe bond practice, and other key groups within Aon's reinsurance business will be key.

This individual will possess demonstrated expertise over a broad range of solutions for insurance and reinsurance clients. They will have led numerous transactions, preferably with an emphasis on insurance-linked securities domestically and internationally.

This role requires a track record of successfully sourcing, managing, and executing complex transactions over extended timeframes. This individual will serve as a trusted advisor to sophisticated clients regarding cat bonds, sidecars, general financing, and other matters.

Position Responsibilities:

Contribute to executing the Aon Securities business strategy by focusing on Aon's core product offerings using the appropriate resources available to:

  • Build and maintain strong commercial relationships with clients and prospective clients
  • Market and execute multiple financial advisory and capital raising transactions
  • Contribute to research and innovation related to transferring risks and new structural solutions
  • Strengthen the firm's brand
  • Drive global connectivity and collaboration across other Aon teams
  • Manage and develop the skills of junior team members

  • Assess competitors, clients, and market segments to set ambitious but pragmatic business objectives
  • Develop short-term and long-term strategies for transaction origination and placement
  • Identify opportunities and develop or introduce new products as appropriate

  • Actively engage with members of the overall team. For specific transaction team members, give critical feedback in real time and for use in periodic performance reviews to suggest areas for development

Key Qualifications:

  • 15+ years' experience within the insurance sector, with expertise in sourcing, structuring, and performing a variety of structured finance and advisory transactions
  • Excellent communication skills and leadership skills
  • Experience with capital raising, strategic advisory, and insurance sector expertise
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of the insurance and reinsurance industries
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships with sophisticated insurance company clients
  • BS/BA or equivalent experience

The salary range for this position (intended for U.S. applicants) is $300,000 to $375,000 annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicant's education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant's geographic location.

This position is eligible to participate in one of Aon's annual incentive plans to receive an annual discretionary bonus in addition to base salary. The amount of any bonus varies and is subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable incentive plan.
