Job Description

Kearney & Company is looking for a VMware Systems Administrator to join our team! As a VMware Systems Administrator the daily responsibilities will include monitoring the health and performance of VMware ESXi hosts and virtual machines, alongside performing essential system patching and upgrades. Analytical skills will be vital as you assess capacity and performance trends, recommending improvements for optimal system efficiency. Additional responsibilites include but are not limited to:

  • Ensure security hardening and enforce CIS Benchmark requirements while troubleshooting system and performance issues
  • Validate configurations to meet operational and compliance standards, document system changes and maintenance activities, and coordinate accountable equipment movements
  • Collaborate closely with network, cybersecurity, and government teams
  • Ensure that our virtualization services remain reliable, secure, and compliant across all platforms

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; or 4 years of related experience may be accepted in lieu of the degree
  • Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in systems administration or a related infrastructure-focused role
  • Proficiency in VMware virtualization administration, including experience with VMware ESXi, vCenter, and NSX
  • Strong foundation in capacity planning and trending to support thorough system performance analysis
  • Implement effective solutions and configuration settings for system hardening and security patching
  • Understanding of virtualizations architecture, hypervisor operations, and virtual machine lifecycle management
  • Strong technical documentation skills, including change management and maintenance records
  • Effective communication skills for working with engineering teams and government stakeholders
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Agency Suitability (requires U.S. citizenship)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Relevant industry certification (e.g., Network+, Security+)
  • VMware Certified Professional Certifications

The expected salary range for this position is between $80,000 and $140,000. This range is representative of base pay only and does not include straight time pay for hours worked over 40 per week, company contributions towards paid benefits, and/or bonuses. Actual compensation (meeting or exceeding the range) will be determined based on specific experience, education, work location, clearance level, and other factors permitted by law. This position is eligible for bonuses (when applicable).
