Description

The PBS Trainer provides training and documentation to newly hired and seasoned employees PBS employees. Training will include, but not limited to, ERM system, insurance websites, and department specific protocol. The incumbent in this position will utilize a high level of in-depth applications knowledge to provide training for each department's needs.

Examples of Duties

PBS Trainer 100%

  • Conduct classroom and/or one-on-one based trainings on the use of SIU HealthCare's systems and departmental processes and procedures.
  • Demonstrate in-depth knowledge and experience with SIU-HC supported applications, including but not limited to Athena IDX (CB), TouchWorks, Epic, Cerner and Precision BI
  • Provide on-site guidance and assistance to end users as necessary.
  • Review and develop and update timely training methods and training materials.
  • Work directly with all SIU HealthCare Revenue Cycle staff to provide mentoring, education and training on protocols within the patient care and Revenue Cycle setting.
  • Perform needs assessments and monitor compliance to ensure transfer of learning.
  • As needed act as a back up to the follow-up teams, customer service team and registration/non-RSS teams
  • Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.


Qualifications

Credentials to be Verified by Placement Officer
  1. High school graduation orequivalent
  2. Any one or any combination totaling one (1) year (12 months) from the following categories:
    1. College coursework which includes Information Technology (IT), IT Management, Programming, IT systems, or a closely related discipline, as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent:
      1. 30 semester hours equals one (1) year (12 months)
      2. Associate's Degree (60 semester hours) equals eighteen months (18 months)
      3. 90 semester hours equals two (2) years (24 months)
      4. Bachelor's Degree (120 semester hours) equals three (3) years (36 months)
    2. Work experience in IT-related functions such as hardware/software support, programming, network design, network engineering, IT systems integration, or closely related field.
  3. Any combination totaling one (1) year from the followingcategories:
    1. Progressively more responsible work experience in a training or leadership capacity
    2. College course work which included Management, Finance, Business or a closely related discipline, as measured by the following conversion table or its proportionalequivalent:
      1. 60 semester hours or Associate's Degree equals one (1)year
  4. Two (2) years of experience in the patient revenue cycle including, but not limited to: patient registration, eligibility verification, scheduling, referrals, and authorizations, claims billing, insurance follow up (government and non-government), denial management, coding, cash management, payment posting, customer service, and collections.
  5. Two (2) years of work experience with programs such as Athena, IDX, or Centricty Business(CB)

(Note: experience in #2-4 above can run concurrently)

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs)
  1. Knowledge of the systems and operations used within the areas and departments of responsibility.
  2. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  3. Ability to oversee and coordinate activities of user groups.
  4. Ability to effectively communicate and professionally interact with all staff levels and customer groups.
  5. Ability to identify and resolve technical problems.
  6. Ability to demonstrate fundamental knowledge of effective troubleshooting methodologies.

Condition of Employment
