Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons and New York-Presbyterian Hospital are recruiting for a Hospitalist in the Division of Pediatric Hematology, Oncology and Stem Cell Transplantation The successful candidate will have the opportunity to collaborate with the outstanding clinical and research faculty within the division and at the Columbia University Irving Medical Center, the NCI-designated Herbert Irving Comprehensive Cancer Center, and the Mailman School of Public Health.

The Division of Pediatric Hematology, Oncology and Stem Cell Transplant at Columbia Children's Health, New York-Presbyterian Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital (MSCH) is one of the oldest and most comprehensive centers in the country focused on treating children with cancer and blood disorders. MSCH has 202 inpatient pediatric beds, including a 54-bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and 10 operating rooms. Our division is currently composed of 3 sections (Hematology, Oncology and Stem Cell Transplantation) with 22 full-time faculty, 3 research RN/NP's, 7 clinical research associates, and 3 regulatory specialists and includes an ACGME-accredited Fellowship Program and a FACT-accredited stem cell transplant program.

• Direct patient care in collaboration with attending physicians in Pediatric Oncology and Stem Cell Transplant (SCT), Pediatric Hematology/Oncology fellows, pediatric residents and pediatric nurse practitioners.
• Coverage of Oncology and SCT inpatient services.
• Orientation of pediatric residents to the Pediatric Oncology service, laboratory systems and general day to day processes.
• Oversight of pediatric residents' clinical care of patients admitted to Pediatric Oncology Service.
• Teaching of residents and medical students: 1) coordinating educational time and content to facilitate the educational process and flow of the service; 2) didactic teaching of basic oncology subjects.
• Continuity of care and presence on the inpatient unit.
• Coordinate and assist in discharges and admissions.
• Facilitate transfers to and from the PICU.
• Overseeing patient transports.
• Distribution of assignments to pediatric residents and nurse practitioners.
• As needed, will have primary patient assignments.
• Participation in weekly divisional and oncology section patient care conferences.
• Participation in quality and process improvement projects.
• Can participate in research projects.

Schedule:

• 40 hours each week, with expectation of four x 10 hr shifts each week
• Option to moonlight and and provide coverage for SCT service nights or weekends shifts.

• Must have a MD or DO degree and an active NYS Medical License
• Must be Board certified or eligible in Pediatrics or an equivalent board certification with experience in Hematology, Oncology and Stem Cell Transplantation with a clinical training in pediatrics.
