Overview

The Senior Accountant is responsible for accounting activities related to long-term care (LTC) pharmacy locations, including maintaining records of routine accounting transactions by preparing and posting journal entries, researching the general ledger and completing account reconciliations. This position will also assist in the analysis and interpretation of accounting records for use by management and assist in the month end close process.



Responsibilities

    Review and approve reconciliations, journal entries, and financial statements to ensure they are prepared properly and follow up on any unusual items
  • Maintain a system of controls, procedures, and forms for transactions in accordance with GAAP, including partnering with the field to ensure proper accounting of all transactions
  • Ensure key general ledger accounts are reconciled to subsidiary records on a monthly basis
  • Provide guidance to research outstanding issues evidenced by the monthly reconciliations until successful resolution has been reached
  • Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual audit requirements
  • Identify, develop, and implement internal controls focused on continuous improvement to drive ongoing gains in quality, accuracy, and efficiency
  • Partner with other functional areas to resolve issues and support achievement of business goals
  • Provide guidance, support, and development to staff accountants
  • Perform other tasks as assigned


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of accounting experience
  • CPA preferred, or pursuing a CPA
  • Experience applying GAAP accounting principles
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail oriented with strong analytical skills and ability to develop/maintain clear and concise account reconciliations for material and complex transactions and events
  • Knowledge of internal and external audit requirements
  • Ability to work effectively with various functions and flexibility in a changing work environment
  • Self-motivated team player who can credibly communicate across the organization
  • Highly dedicated, purposeful leader with a commitment to the highest standards of performance
  • Strong knowledge of general accounting methods and theory as well as above average proficiency with Excel, Word, and Oracle accounting applications
  • Must be able to handle multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and work effectively with other departments
