Overview

Background Information:

At RT&T, we provide cutting edge technical services in support of live Department of War aircraft and weapons system testing. This full-time Flight Clearance and Configuration Management Specialist supports the Tactical Training Ranges (TTR) program at NAS Patuxent River and will be responsible for ensuring the safe and effective operation of airborne, ground, and test equipment across multiple platforms. This position requires a strong background in flight clearance processes, technical documentation, and configuration management. Duties and Responsibilities:

    Serve as the primary facilitator for tracking and reporting flight clearances for US Navy, US Air Force, Foreign Military, and civilian aircraft authorized to operate with LATR and TCTS equipment installed.
  • Develop installation procedures for new aircraft and provide technical data to platform facilitators to be used in updating Naval Air Training and Operating Procedures Standardization (NATOPS) and Naval Aviation Technical Information Product (NATIP) manuals.
  • Coordinate closely with multiple Department of Defense (DoD) programs to ensure compliance with flight clearance requirements and standards.
  • Document the configuration of legacy and developmental airborne, ground, and test equipment.
  • Research requirements, determine logistics impacts, verify engineering data, and write engineering change proposals (ECPs).
  • Prepare change control board requests and associated technical directives.
  • Coordinate comprehensive reviews of all technical documents by key program personnel and assist the PMA in the processing of all necessary documents through the NAVAIR ECM website for approval and signature by PMA leadership.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams, logistics personnel, and program managers to ensure technical directives and engineering changes are implemented effectively.
  • Maintain close communication with stakeholders to address evolving processes and requirements.

Educational, Experience, and Skill Requirements:

  • BS/BA Degree in business, engineering, scientific, or mathematics from an accredited college or university
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience performing the stated or similar function
  • In lieu of a BS/BA Degree, a High School diploma or equivalent GED and a total of 9 years of work experience performing the stated function
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and SharePoint
  • Strong understanding of airborne systems, configuration management principles, and technical documentation standards
  • Ability to coordinate with diverse teams, including DoD programs, engineering personnel, and leadership, to ensure seamless execution of responsibilities
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to evolving configuration management processes and tools
  • Prior US Navy or military aviation experience with flight clearance processes and procedures desired
  • Configuration Management Certification (e.g., CMII or equivalent) preferred
  • Aviation Maintenance or flight clearance-related certifications preferred
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and successfully pass drug screening

Clearance Requirements:

  • Currently hold or be able to obtain and maintain the proper US DoD issued security clearance, which requires US Citizenship. Security clearance eligibility may be discussed during the interview phase.
  • Employment and start date is contingent upon the candidate receiving the required US DoD issued interim security clearance

Work Conditions:

Most work is performed in enclosed buildings at a desk or in data processing environments. Work will include sitting, standing, walking, lifting and reaching. Special vision abilities to perform this job are close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust and focus. Some travel and/or overtime may be required. Ability to lift 50lbs required.
