The MICU is an 18 bed adult critical care unit located at Blake 7. Nurses on the MICU care for a variety of complex respiratory and medical patients. Notable diagnosis includes but not limited to sepsis, gastrointestinal, genitourinary, heme-oncology, cardiac, neurology, and infectious diseases such as H1N1(2005), suspect Ebola virus (2014) and the novel Corona Virus (2020). Qualifications:
*BSN is strongly preferred
* Minimum of 3 years of med/surg experience, ICU experience preferred.
*Must be devoted to working as part of a patient care service team; strong patient care, staff development and a diverse workforce are paramount.
*Current licensure in Massachusetts as an RN is required.
*ACLS and CCRN certifications preferred.
Summary
Accountable for interpreting the plan of medical care, assessment of patients' clinical decision-making regarding nursing care, assuring nursing care is provided in a safe and competent manner, providing individualized nursing care, and evaluating nursing care for groups of patients.

Essential Functions
-Maintain accurate, detailed reports, and records.
-Administer medications to patients and monitor patients for reactions or side effects.
-Record patients' medical information and vital signs.
-Monitor, record, and report symptoms or changes in patients' conditions.
-Consult and coordinate with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, or evaluate patient care plans.
-Modify patient treatment plans as indicated by patients' responses and conditions.

Education
Bachelor's Degree Nursing preferred

Licenses and Credentials
Registered Nurse RN - MA License

Experience
Clinical nursing experience minimum 3 years required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Familiarity with the principles and skills needed for practical nursing to provide patient care and treatment.
- Knowledgeable of the care required by respective age groups for which care is being provided.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and secure sensitive information.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Excellent verbal and communication skills.
- Ability to accurately screen and triage acute patients.
