We are seeking a Senior Accounting Manager / Technical Principal Accountant, LNG Accounting to help establish and lead the accounting function for a newly launched LNG business line. This is a highly visible, hands-on role for an experienced accounting leader who thrives in building new capabilities, setting standards, and partnering closely with commercial, operations, systems, and data teams.

This position will not have direct reports initially; however, the successful candidate will be responsible for designing, standing up, and scaling the LNG accounting function, including future team build-out. The role will play a critical part in systems implementation, technical accounting policy development, end-to-end process design, and the development of management reporting and analytics.

The Senior Accounting Manager / Technical Principal Accountantresponsibilities include but arenot limited to:

Accounting & Technical Leadership



  • Serve as the technical accounting authority for LNG-related transactions, including long-term contracts, derivatives, inventory, shipping, and revenue recognition.
  • Perform technical accounting research, interpret US GAAP guidance, and document conclusions in formal accounting memos.
  • Develop, establish, and maintain accounting policies specific to LNG activities and related commercial structures.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders and external auditors to support accounting positions and ensure audit readiness.


Systems & Implementation



  • Play a key role in the implementation and integration of IMOS and Endur, including:


    • Defining accounting and reporting requirements
    • Supporting system configuration, testing, and validation
    • Ensuring proper data flows from trading, scheduling, and operations into the general ledger and reporting layers


  • Act as the accounting liaison between business users, IT, data teams, and external implementation partners.


Process Design & Build-Out



  • Design, document, and implement end-to-end accounting processes for the LNG business, including:


    • Transaction capture and validation
    • Month-end close activities
    • Reconciliations and internal controls
    • Financial and management reporting support


  • Establish scalable, well-controlled processes that support future growth and increased transaction complexity.
  • Create and maintain process documentation, control narratives, and procedures.
  • Electrify accounting and forecasting processes in the Digital Work Environment (DWE).
  • Establish a technical accounting framework in the DWE.
  • Partner with Internal Audit to establish and maintain appropriate SOX controls over the LNG business.


Analytics, Dashboarding & Management Reporting



  • Design and develop management reporting frameworks for the LNG business, including P&L drivers, operational KPIs, and performance metrics.
  • Partner with finance, commercial, and operations teams to translate accounting and operational data into actionable insights for senior leadership.
  • Support the development and enhancement of dashboards and analytics solutions to improve visibility into trading results, inventory positions, exposures, and close performance.
  • Leverage data from IMOS, Endur, and financial systems to ensure consistent, accurate, and decision-useful reporting.
  • Contribute to the evolution of data models and reporting structures as the LNG platform scales.


Business Partnership & Growth





    • Partner closely with commercial, trading, operations, risk, and finance teams to support business decision-making.
    • Provide accounting and reporting guidance on new products, contracts, and structuring considerations.
    • Contribute to the long-term strategy for building the LNG accounting organization, including future hiring and organizational design.





Required Experience and Skills:



  • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, with a strong emphasis on technical accounting.
  • CPA required.
  • Direct industry experience required, preferably in LNG, energy trading, commodities, or a related complex, transaction-driven environment.
  • Deep knowledge ofUS GAAP, including revenue recognition, derivatives/hedging, inventory, and complex contract accounting.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex accounting and data concepts to non-accounting stakeholders.



Preferred Experience and Skills:



  • Experience supporting or leading system implementations, with IMOS, Endur, or similar ETRM/CTRM platforms strongly preferred.
  • Proven ability to build accounting processes, policies, and reporting frameworks from the ground up.
  • Strong analytical mindset with experience supporting management reporting, analytics, and performance measurement.
  • Experience working with large datasets across trading, operational, and financial systems.
  • Experience with SQL, Databricks, and/or Power BI is a plus, particularly in building or supporting dashboards and analytical reporting.



Remote work is being considered for this role excluding the following states: California, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, and Tennessee unless willing to relocate.
