Overview: Guitar Center is modernizing the enterprise systems that power merchandising, demand planning, and vendor collaboration. We are seeking a Product Manager to lead high-impact initiatives that improve forecast accuracy, inventory productivity, vendor workflows, and operational efficiency across our retail business. This role operates at the intersection of Merchandising, Planning, Finance, Supply Chain, and Technology, owning product strategy and execution for internal platforms that support forecasting, replenishment, vendor management, and merchandising operations. Success in this role means identifying workflow inefficiencies, designing scalable system improvements, validating impact through pilots, and delivering measurable business outcomes. Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Product Ownership
- Own the product roadmap for merchandising and retail planning systems.
- Translate business objectives into scalable product capabilities that improve forecast accuracy, inventory productivity, and process efficiency.
- Lead system enhancements, integrations, and workflow modernization initiatives.
- Prioritize initiatives based on business value and measurable impact.
- User Discovery & Workflow Transformation
- Conduct structured user research with planners and operational stakeholders.
- Analyze current workflows to identify inefficiencies and automation opportunities.
- Define future-state processes enabled by improved systems.
- Design and execute pilots or controlled rollouts to validate value before broad deployment.
- Establish success metrics and measure impact across adoption, productivity, and operational performance.
- Data-Driven Execution & Leadership
- Define and track KPIs such as forecast accuracy, inventory health, compliance, and cycle time.
- Partner with engineering and data teams to improve system integrations, automation, and reliability.
- Lead cross-functional initiatives across business and technical teams.
- Communicate roadmap priorities, tradeoffs, and measurable outcomes clearly to stakeholders.
Professional Experience & Requirements:
- 4-6 years of product management experience in enterprise software, retail systems, supply chain technology, ERP platforms, or operational environments.
- Experience owning product lines with technical and cross-functional dependencies.
- Strong understanding of merchandising, planning, inventory, vendor management, or financial workflows.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct user research and translate operational insights into scalable product solutions.
- Proven ability to define KPIs and deliver measurable operational improvements.
- Experience leading product initiatives end-to-end, from discovery through delivery and measurable impact.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; comfortable using data to inform decisions and measure impact.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with retail planning systems, ERP platforms, or vendor collaboration tools.
- Exposure to demand planning, replenishment, assortment planning, or merchandising financial systems.
- Experience supporting phased system upgrades or enterprise modernization initiatives.
