Pneumatic Tanker Driver

Position Overview

The Pneumatic Tanker Driver is responsible for safely and efficiently transporting bulk cement and other materials to ready-mix plants and customer locations. This position requires strict adherence to all safety and environmental regulations, company policies, and Department of Transportation (DOT) standards. The role includes operating a pneumatic tanker truck, performing pre- and post-trip inspections, and ensuring accurate delivery and transfer of materials. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, dependable, and committed to providing excellent service to both internal and external customers.

Principal Duties and Accountabilities (Essential Functions)

• Safely operate a pneumatic tanker truck to transport bulk materials, primarily cement, between terminals, ready-mix plants, and customer locations.
• Perform accurate loading and unloading of bulk materials using pneumatic systems, following established procedures to ensure product quality and prevent contamination.
• Conduct daily pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections in compliance with DOT and company standards, reporting any mechanical issues or damage promptly.
• Maintain accurate and complete delivery logs, manifests, and inspection reports.
• Communicate effectively with dispatch, plant personnel, and customers regarding delivery schedules, delays, or operational concerns.
• Adhere to all DOT, OSHA, and company safety regulations, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Maintain vehicle cleanliness and ensure equipment is properly serviced and fueled.
• Assist in routine maintenance checks and coordinate repairs with the maintenance department.
• Operate equipment in a professional and courteous manner at all times, representing the company's values and commitment to safety and service excellence.
• Always maintain work area and vehicle in a safe and clean condition.

Education & Experience

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a clean driving record required.
• Minimum of 2 years of commercial driving experience preferred.
• Prior experience hauling pneumatic tankers or bulk materials highly preferred.
• Knowledge of cement or ready-mix operations preferred.

• Must be safety-conscious and dependable.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Must pass all DOT physicals, drug and alcohol testing, and background checks.
• Must maintain compliance with all company and DOT driving requirements.

Work Environment

The work environment includes both outdoor and driving conditions. The employee will be regularly exposed to dust, noise, vibration, and changing weather conditions while operating on plant sites, highways, and customer facilities. Work involves exposure to cement dust and other bulk materials. Proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required at all times.

• Ability to sit for extended periods while operating a vehicle.
• Ability to climb ladders and access truck hatches safely.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a frequent basis.
• Manual dexterity and coordination for operating vehicle controls and pneumatic equipment.
• Ability to perform pre- and post-trip inspections that require bending, stooping, and walking.
• Must have normal or corrected vision and hearing sufficient for safe vehicle operation.
