Description

The Department of Medicine, Division of Cardiology is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Lab Assistant to join our dynamic research team. In this role, you will gain hands-on experience with molecular cloning, RT-PCR, mutagenesis, mammalian cell culture, immunoassays, western blots, and microscopy studies. Your contributions will support cutting-edge research into intravascular triglyceride metabolism and the role of nuclear lamins in health and disease.

This position is ideal for individuals eager to develop their laboratory skills, work collaboratively in a team environment, and contribute to impactful biomedical research.

Hourly range: $27.46-$32.68

Qualifications Required:
  • Prior experience in biologic research
  • Expertise with molecular biology and the ability to learn new techniques
  • Skill in laboratory techniques
  • Working knowledge of basic laboratory equipment
  • Ability to communicate verbally and to understand and carry out verbal instructions. Skill in communicating clearly and effectively to receive and convey information accurately and in a professional manner
  • Be well organized, keep neat and detailed records
  • Ability to manage a heavy workload with shifting priorities and to ensure completion of all work in a timely manner.
  • Analytical skills to assess relevant information, practices and procedures, define problems, formulate logical solutions, develop alternative solutions and to make recommendations
  • Ability to work with mice and maintain accurate records of all mouse studies
Preferred:
  • Skill in laboratory safety protocols including
    proper handling of biohazardous and chemical waste
