Adjunct Professor of John H. Mitchell Business of Entertainment Programs: Producing and Marketing Feature Length Films

The USC School of Cinematic Arts is seeking an adjunct faculty member in the field of marketing and creative producing for the entertainment industry. We arelooking for a working professional with a primary positionas producer or chief marketing officer with extensive experience at a studio, streaming service and/or production.

This course explores the creative and business producing and marketing in the motion picture industry-crystallized through current events, required readings, and guest speakers representing various business units of major studios, production companies, and streaming services. The course will cover what films get made and why and how films are financed, marketed and distributed. Guests speakers will discuss film finance, creative development, production, marketing, distribution, as well as the areas of acquisitions, and streaming distribution models.

Candidates will be expected to conceptualize and deliver lectures on a variety of topics, including film finance, data analysis & research, film production, talent representation & management, distribution, publicity, streaming platform marketing, brand marketing, product placement, creative advertising, digital marketing, film festival & award strategy. Candidates will be able to facilitate discussion and encourage participation through engaging and/or interactive class activities in addition to lectures.

Qualified applicants will have 10+ years of marketing and/or producing experience and be able to teach students at the undergraduate senior level about the industry. Prior teaching and/or guest lecturer experience at the university level is welcomed but not required.

Minimum Education:Bachelor's degree.

Preferred Education: Master's degree, or equivalent experience. Demonstrated teaching experience, ideally at the university level, but inclusive of professional and community seminars, workshops, and mentorships.

Minimum Experience: 7-9 years of experience in producing or marketing at a studio, streaming service and/ or production company

Preferred Experience: 10+ years of experience in producing or marketing at a studio, streaming service and/ or production company at the executive level. Demonstrated teaching experience.

Compensation:

The coresalaryrangefor this position is $30 - $45 per hour. This is an adjunct 25% FTE position.

Adjunct faculty typically teach only one course per year but, in exceptional cases, may teach one course per semester, if approved by the dean
