We are looking for anApplied Scientist II to join our team to help shape the future of how Office users interact with Copilot and AI.In this role,you'llwork closely with engineers, program managers, data scientists and applied scientists to improve our approach to personalized experiences, best leverage and fine tune foundational models, advance evaluation techniques, and improve engineering productivity.

Responsibilities will include leading advanced evaluations and datasets, formulation ofadvancedprompt engineering,selecting andfine-tuningLLMs, develop concepts for more efficient andaccuratesolutions,andresearching andassessingdifferent architectures and approachesfrom across the M365 ecosystem.Youwillconnectwith leaders and subject matter experts across the company andplay a key role in building reliable, measurable systems that bridgecutting-edgeAIwith their expression across M365 Copilot user experiences.

• Define, lead, and implement advanced, repeatable evaluation for the next generation of model generated suggested user actions.
• Conduct research projects and workstreams that directlybenefitour customers, drive positive usage, and improve Microsoft's core productivity products.
• Lead advanced prompt engineering, selecting and fine-tuning LLMs, design and manage evaluation datasets, develop concepts for more efficient andaccuratesolutions, and researching and assessing different architectures and approaches from across the M365 ecosystem.
• Collaborate and coordinatewith people in a range of roles, including researchers,engineers, product managers, designers, and product leaders and other key product stakeholders.
• Generate ML / AI based models that can be shipped to customers to improve their experience and used internally to generate data insights to shape the features and products we ship to customers.
• Teach, guide, and tutor colleagues without research backgrounds instate-of-the-arttechniques and research best practices.
